just changed out my stock leaker radiator with a fluidyne today. flushed / drained system. installed the same temp sensor. while driving home the temp gauge needle started to climb the "H" 12 o'clock zone. then it would drop down and cycle back up. needle keeps on cycling up and down. what could this be??? Before changing radiator it would always stay just below midway on the gauge constitently.

Is it possible there's air trapped in the system? Did you replace the thermostat while you were at it?

That almost sounds like a thermostat sticking and then opening (heart stopping experience I'll tell ya'!) but I'm betting it's air trapped in there.

you are most definitely right ... especially while sitting in traffic with no place to go. after letting it cool down, I re-checked the fluid level and it was just below the internal fins. added another 2 quarts. too bizarre, that thing was full before I left. so I hope you are right, I'm not looking forward to have to replace thermo.

if u didnt leave your car on while filling your radiator up, then it will not fill up completely. anyways, hows that radiator working out?? any noticeable difference?? some sites say expect like 5-10 hp increase......i plan on doing this in the near future, so please give me some feedback. thanks

baby needed to be burped. everything is back to normal. the radiator is nice considering that the Toyo stock cost just as much and its plastic and smaller. If you buy one just remember there is no mounting boss to mount the upper cold air intake to the stock air box. so I just re-installed my akimoto cone. one of the mounting bosses was mis-located to mount the radiator shroud. no biggie. concerning hp, I never had my car dyno'ed so I couldn't tell you. the butt dyno doesn't feel any change either. overall just glad not to have a leakee radiator anymore. but if you've got to replace one its a reasonable choice. maybe its more of a benefit for the big singles or when it gets hot down here in Texas. only the summer will tell.
