Need help on my 60 ft. - stock auto

So I went to the track for the first time and my times were a joke but I wasn't expecting too much as it was something I've never done. I'm still getting used to racing an auto as I've done nothing but 5 speeds in the past. The big questions that I've got - what are the best ways to launch these cars with a stock auto/stock stall? How high are you going when brake boosting? What is a good 60 ft. with a stock auto at BPU level?

Also, what should be a good trap for my car? I was getting up to 107 mph but that seemed very low.

leave it in drive, stall up the convertor against the foot and e brake to build some boost. Then release and go.
- Make sure you pull the Trac fuse
- Reset the ECU by pulling the fuse or disconnecting the negative battery terminal for a minute or so
- Hammer on the footbrake
- Pull the Ebrake very hard and hold the button in
- Bring up RPMs at a moderate pace as high as they'll go
- Take your time as your reaction time doesn't matter
- Let off footbrake, drop E-Brake, and go WOT all at the same time.

On good tires this should give you around 1.8 60' if your twins are in sequential.

Also as stated by YTRY, leave it in drive and make sure the O/D is OFF.
Also try pulling the headlight, you make pick up a few MPH
yep, everything sngledsupe said + race gas. This should get you well into the 12s at 114+
Great! I'll try those next time I'm out. Thanks for all the input, guys.

Why do you think this would matter? It never shifts to 4th anyway...

Also, what was your trap on that 12.0 run?
my 12.0 run i believe was 119mph

But it does shift into third!
FWIW, I put a little piece of duct tape over the e-brake button. That way you don't need to fumble around pushing in the button. Just tug hard and drop it when the light turns green....
not a bad idea RRocket... I usually just keep the button held in, but that works as well!
^^^^It works so much better. One less thing to worry about. Especially for entire race weekend.

My ultimate plan is to wire in some type of actuator that releases the e-brake when you step off the brake pedal.

Look into something like this perhaps:

I had one on my old AE86 (I'm pretty sure it was a $5 generic one, but this is the first link I found). Eliminates the ratchet so you can just pull up and let go, like you're talking about, but in a more secure fashion. When I wanted to actually park the car somewhere I could just pull up the ebrake and pull the button some to get it to lock.
^^That does basically what my duct tape does, no??

I'm talking of a wired switch with a small robotic actuator wired into the brake swtich. When you released the brake at the line it automatically drops the ebrake without you having to hold anything. I know it can be done..just not sure how much room I'll need...
It does what your duct tape does, yes, but more securely and in a manner which you don't have to remove and replace the tape every time you go to the track or want to run someone on the street. Like I said generic ones can be had for like $5-7 I think.

Yes, they do go into third, but what does that have to do with the O/D button? I might be sounding stupid here, but I'm pretty certain that overdrive is 4th gear. Please enlighten me
I am pretty sure the overdrive works with the 3rd gear. The car will most certainly shift into 3rd gear while going down the track, overdrive will lower RPM and does rob torque.

Overdrive is for 4th.....And I run with the overdrive OFF.
The last time I ran my auto BPU with the stock tranny, stall, and street tires (Eagle F1's) It ran 12.32 @ 117. My 60 ft times were always around 1.9 - 2.1. While at the line, I use the E brake and power brake it untill the tires start to break loose a little and then back off a hair. I'll be going back when the weather starts warming up. I've got the built tranny and 3800 stall in it now so I'm really looking forward to some better numbers. It will take you a few times to get used to launching that thing so just keep working at it.
95 BPU,

You need to post octane and PSI.
^^^^ I had 93 octane in the tank already and added five gallons of 110 octane ( Cam 2 ) with it. As far as boost it was around 19 psi. My car is straight BPU with a front mount and full weight. I need to do the spring mod to try and squeeze out those extra couple of pounds of boost.
