Need Help w/ DEFI Egt gauge

I have stock twins and a stainless Rod Millen Downpipe and I got the Defi Boost and EGT gauges.. The problem is that the EGT probe is very short. The actual probe appears to be ~1 inch and when I try to tap it into the DP w/ the bunt and screws, it hardly sticks out... I called Defi and they don't make longer probes. Should I try to drill out the fitting to push the probe farther in or should I get another EGT probe and solder my Defi connector wire to it?

mine fits in just fine....you need to drill with a smaller drill bit, then the use the tap to make the threads...it works great...
