ok, so im in the market for a new supra, 95-96, turbo, targa top, COMPLETELY 100% STOCK! now, i have a 40K budget for this car but obviously want to keep the cost of the initial purchase as low as possible, (around 15-20) and then upgrade as i go. my question is, in canada not only will i never find a stock supra, but since the FF movies people have gone nuts charging 35+ for their supras...

1. where in the US is the best place to look as far as importing one.
2. how much am i looking at as far as importing prices

Bonus Questions lol:

1. with 10 G's right off the bat what upgrades would you make? (im trying to achieve 500HP) id love to hear what you guys would do!

Thanks!

Best place to look?
supraforums classfields, imo.
or ebay has some good ones come up time to time.

When importing you just have to pay taxes. I think it's 12%? if not then 18% tax. If you don't wanna do the work yourself you can always just find a car, and then find an importer to do the customs work.

If you're trying to achieve 500hp most people will usually recommend T67 kit.
You'll make way more than 500bhp though.

pretty good example:

you can pick up a c-spec 6 speed in good shape for 30k +/-
in the states you can pick up the same car for 23-25k, however when you pay taxes and duties and/or shipping, you're looking upwards of 30k +/-
when importing from the states its gonna be whatever the tax rate is in ontario, + 6.1% duty as the car was not built in north america.

if 15-20 is your budget for the car itself, thats jdm 6 speed territory (guesstimate as i know very little about jdm cars or their pricing)

for 500hp id go with the s4s hybrid twins/cheap fmic/other minor supporting mods and a piggy back ecu... easily attainable under $5,000 if you do all the labour yourself. on a jdm car add a fuel upgrade.

you're better off going with a smaller single... once you have 500hp you're gonna want more... its a vicious and expensive addiction :(

I would import the car from Japan. And if I lived in Quebec I would move out so I can drive my RHD Supra. The reason is because out there its illeagal to have a car that has a motor with more then 100,000km because it will automaticly fail emmisions. Cars out there have no miles compaired of else were in the world in terms of Supra.

May find a Supra from Japan that already suits your HP goal.
