I got to run my Celica ( http://www.jblmk3.com/id138.htm ) at Bristol Street Fights last Thursday (5/18/06) and got a new best time of 11.47. Last year my best was [email protected] Through the winter I finally figured a way to get the gear I wanted in the car. My rear axle assembly is from a 4 cylinder truck (8"). The only gears available for them are way too low or way too high. My 11.8 times were with a 3.08:1 gear. I changed to a 4.10:1 and that was too low. Finally I was able to get a hold of a V6 third member and put it in my 4 cylinder axle housing with some small modifications ( http://www.jblmk3.com/id161.htm ). With the new V6 unit, I could install the insides from a Mk3 Supra with limited slip. So, with that I was able to get rid of the welded too high/too low gears and go with the perfect ratio lsd 3.73 from a Supra. Very nice change! I think this car will go way better times now. My 60 ft. times are still 1.8 because of traction in first. On my last and best run ([email protected]) I had to lift in fourth because my tire pressures got uneven and the car was walking around too much for my comfort. It made a 9 mph difference in my trap speed, so if I could have stayed in it I'm sure my time would have been much better. I think I might have a chance at a high 10 before the season is over :)

EDIT: Here's a link to an [email protected] time the same night...

I've been around just been quiet! It's a 420 rwhp 7M and the car weighs 2623 with me. The front/back weight distribution is 54.6% front and 45.4% rear. Just about the same as stock with the 20R. I still have some weight reduction I can do. I need to get lighter wheels (got front skinny's) and race seats like I had in my Supra.

Wow that is a very impressive project you've got going there!! Great step-by-step documentation on your site.....thanks for sharing, that's a ton of custom work. Bet that car surprises a few people on the street.

I actually almost bought a black 74 Celica....it was all there, but needed a little too much work for my non-existant fabricaction skills :D
