Wow nice.

The mags. have pretty much been getting mid 12s on the previous Z06 with easy sightings of people getting mid-12s @ 115+ mph in cool sea-level air /bone stock including radials and as fast as 11.7s showroom stock right down to the radials by more than a couple different owners.

I'm enthusiastic to see what the below avg., avg., and above avg. track times by owners will be.

Motor Trend pulled a consistent 1.02g's with the C6 Z06 and did a peak pull of 1.18g's.

 

That 17.5sec to 150mph is like 5sec faster than the SRT-10 usually pulls, very impressive!!

When I first read that I was thinking 5 seconds faster than a neon? WTF? :wtflol:

After seeing a C6 in person, I love it. You really cannot get the feel for ANYTHING through a picture

Very nice looking car. I attended the Corvette show in Carlisle this past weekend. Kerbeck's had a silver one with a black interior. The people were all over it.

The Z06 has runflats stock...not by any means optimal rubber. They said they sustained 1.0g for a full second and a half, and at 120mph on the track like they were, that's significant. Please, don't try to take anything away from the Z06. Even with this archaic technology that so many people complain about, it does amazi--no, FANTASTICALLY in every facet of technology...and costs a fraction of anything that is competition.

Bottom line? Give credit where credit is due.

I agree its a dumb mentality but taking the turbos off the supra..........thats like almost saying lets have the vette run with a 4 cyl inside since the supra motor was built around being turbocharged.

The new z06 is impressive but I will simply take a nice 98 Viper GTS anyday

While I'm a huge Viper fan, I was disappointed somewhat when I finally drove a GTS.

there have been huge advances in the quality of tires in the past 12 yeras there killer. it isnt a fair comparison without using the same rubber.

but since you tried to call me out and said i have ricer mentality by saying compare the handling/road holding using the same tires (which by the way makes perfect sense especially when their is 12 years of development between the two) you come and say take the turbos off the supra and see how fast it is compared to the Z06. that is classic ricer mentality there killer. that like ricers saying well that car is $60,000 more then mine so i will own it with that $60,000 in mods added to mine.

explain how? if your directly comparing one cars abilities to the other when it comes to handling or roadholding and there was 12 years in tire developments between the models why wouldnt you keep that variable constant by using the same rubber?

i mean you are trying to see how well the cars handle and not the limits of the rubber right? the only way to truly test this would be by using the same rubber.

It's run whichcha brung if you lose upgrade plain and simple. But don't scoff at the performance of a stock vehicle just because you car didn't come w/ tires that wide. Blame Toyota not GM, hell a 1990 ZR1 had 315/35/17 tires.

DuCe - its dumb because thats just the way things go...........cars advance. Its a more legitimate argument from comparing those old muscle cars in the 60s stock........and today's cars. I guarantee there have probably been better advances in rubber from 67 - 98 than there was from 98-05
