Hi guys

so it's second time this happens to me

my car just doesnt accelerate as good as usual up to 3000-3500rpm's

but after it, it seems to be ok and acceleration is also normal

turbos are OK and boost from about 1800-2000

my car is kinda stock

it has TRD ver. S catback TRD filter in oem airbox

both cats are in place

what should i look at?

i thought it could be gas, but i feels ok from 3500rpm so it's not gas i think?

what about reseting ecu?

I haven't changed plugs yet, should i look there?

or maybe cats?

help meeeee

Cats probably blown.
Probably not buddy, he would have a larger power loss once exhaust gas volume increased.. (Higher RPM)

Still not saying it can't be bad cats, but the car would fall flat on its face top end.

My guess is that, if you aren't getting any misfires, and you are getting boost, just no power. Typically thats a rich/lean condition.

If you were running really rich you could lose a great deal of torque. :dunno:

Is your ecu getting a VSS (Vehicle speed signal)? You can easily check this by seeing if your cruise control is working.

If you car is not getting a VSS, what happens is your ecu will open the second turbo way too early at 3000rpms because it doesn't know how fast your car is going. This causes a huge loss of boost between 3k-4k rpms. Just something to look into.

Beau,

I have afr gauge at idle it shows 14.2

but don't know what happens at higher revs

once i looked at it, it showed !!!9!!! (about 5K rpm) just for a second or two

it's pretty old i think and maybe it's not working properly

what do you think, maybe it's gas ?

i can't even imagine why should it rich/lean because it's kinda stock

tomorrow i'll try reseting the ecu (cuting ground wire from battery for couple minutes helps?)

cwtt,

if so

then it shouldn't rev more than 6000 rpm ? am i right?

it revs up to redline

also it seems like it revs really slow to 3500

Sounds like the sequential setup isn't working properly to me. Does it always do this or only some of the time?
I had this problem couple weeks ago but it disappeared

last couple days it's doing the same

but sometimes in 3-4 gear it accelerates from 2000 rpm without any problem

could it be spark plugs?
