I have a thumping/whining noise comming from my rear wonder if the lsd may be going out?Car has almost 230 thousand miles on it.If you ve had this sound was it your lsd?Can you get parts to rebuild your LSD?
The thumbing is the CV joints I think...mine does it every time I let out the clutch...and you might be low on dif oil, causing the whining?? Not sure though...
Mine makes a slip - stick vibrating sorta sound when I make slow turns from a stop. Does it sorta loud turning right and not sure about left. Doesnt do it at all if I put a lil gas in the turn.
I've had my '87T for over five years and every mechanic that gets it it says the lsd is on its way out. It made a whine when I bought it and still does today. You can reduce the noise with a high quality gear oil like redline.
I asked several mechanics about fixing it if it ever broke, and they said find a complete rear end assembly and swap the whole thing in. It's just too fussy to get a rebuild lined up correctly.
