They test on an airstrip here too. Josh , from Sport Compact Car seems to do a bit of the testing over there. Hes a good driver. A lot of the time its surface dependent, and if they have to back it up/ take the average of a few passes, or the best.

Magazine testing is interesting.

The 3.3 is a J-spec car. I wonder what a US spec car will do.

Two things stuck out to me:
- This was run on a shitty surface. On a proper drag strip the times should be much better.
- Notice they said there was quite a bit of rear wheelspin prior to the fronts engaging. That I find to be very interesting.

I am starting to like this car quiet a bit. The looks have really grown on me. And the performance appears to really be something. That combined with the GT characteristics of the car seems to make it a very very nice ride.

This thing is amazing. I have been a skeptic until recently.

Not to take anything away from what Toyota and Honda are aiming at, which is producing a car that is categorized as a "proper" supercar (V10 RWD, 2 Seats). The GTR is a different class, the King of the Japanese tuning industry and JGTC wannabe racers j/k ;)

I noticed they tested the Z06 at 0-60 at 4.5 seconds and the quarter mile at 12.2! Their driver should have been fired on the spot. I probably could get 12.2 by starting in 2nd gear. Funny they use that as their comparison numbers against the GTR. For reference, MT was 11.5 @ 125.

edmunds typically gets poor acceleration times compared to the other magazines. They stated in the artice the GTR runs 12.3 seconds at 120.6 mph w/o the launch control.

Wow. Those times are pretty amazing. 3.3 to 60 and 120mph in the 1/4 is hauling.

Chris (quick), I too find it interesting that the GTR suffered a lot of rear wheelspin. It seems as though it would be either a heavy rear bias or a slow-to-react torque distribution system. Does anyone know how much power is routed to the rear wheels under normal circumstances?

Mercennarius, thanks for sharing. A 0-60 time of 3.3 sec is very impressive on street tire. I can't wait till more independent sources verify its performance and lay the doubters to rest. It is truely an impressive car. The GTR and the Porsche 997 are no doubt, the best car for the money in their respective markets-- Performance, civility, and comfort, all in one nice package! Can't wait to see it when it goes stateside.:)
