me and viperlocc drove from stevens point back to madison and when we came into madison, smoke was coming from under the hood, but it smelt like oil (viperlocc has breathers on the valve covers) so we thought it was the breathers...
got to mcdonalds and popped the hood and there was oil on the passenger side...not alot but enough...and the dipstick was up a little bit so i thought it would come through there. what would cause this. before we left we put on the new intercooler and in the proces a hose fell off so we put it back on..would that have caused it?

Make sure the pressure can get out - which is the job of the PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) system. Make sure the PCV lines arent colgged up or anything.

EDIT: I noticed you mentioned he had breather filters on the valve covers. Check those and make sure they are relativly free flowing. If they check out, you might need a new dip stick seal to help keep it in place.
