I feel safe to say oil pressure is probably fine....you do realize there is no way to have oil pressure when the engine is off, correct?

 

yes I realize that there should be no pressure when off ..that’s why I’m confused as to why it says 12psi when it is off… and I would expect some fluctuating pressure tho but it doesn’t ..it stays at 12psi

 

There's something wrong with the oil pressure sensor, the wiring going to it, or the setup in your ECU.

 

i may be wrong but since I have a vvti ain’t the sensor in the big bolt next to oil filter? I just replaced that with new from Toyota..I’ll have to plug my laptop in and check out ecu..thengo over wiring ..thank you

 

Your oil pressure sensor may be going out, or your gauge could be set up wrong. Atmospheric pressure is 14.7psi. Perhaps it is reading that while the engine is off?

Here’s the adapter I’m using, because it allows both stock and aftermarket sensors. If you get rid of the stock 2JZ oil psi switch, you would just need a 1/8bspt male x 1/8 npt female like this. Then just re-terminate your custom harness’ oil sensor lead for whatever aftermarket sensor you choose. Aftermarket sensor will need three wires, +5V, Gnd, and the sensor data.

 

I was thinking gunna do the other option u mentioned I’ll cut grommet off and replace the switch with a sensor ..And run the wire into the ecu.. with this sensor I found

 

That sensor would work, but you will need an adapter for the block. The block is 1/8 bspt, which is pretty close to 1/8 npt, but they are not the same. That looks like an AN4 adapter in that pic you posted, so you’d need that second adapter I linked in post#12. You’ll also need to run two additional wires to the sensor…a +5V and a sensor ground from your Infinity. You may can pick them up at your MAP sensor or Fuel Pressure sensor, if you have these on your Infinity.
