curt i opened up the oil pump and the dam thing slipped out of my hand.. the two gears inside came out..and i was looking at the toyota manual but it's not so clear cut..the book says the mark on each gear one should face up. The inner gear i know has to face the front of the oil pump, because that's the only way it fits in there, and there's no mark on the back side of it. Does the mark of the outter gear face out to?

by up, what do you mean? I guess i'm trying to get the reference point down. Up as in if i look at the back side which i opened up as up?
