Opinions on Diamond Audio Hex?

Never heard 'em in a supra but they're a GREAT speaker. Much better than the price would reflect.

Thanks... any other opinions? Good or bad?

I thought they sounded very close to the A/D/S speakers... but it's hard to tell since they weren't side by side. Not to mention they're about $200 cheaper!

Forgot to mention, they do sound much better with the silk tweeter option. Warmer and you'll definately pick up on the tinniness of other tweeters.

Yep... I am definetly looking for a soft-dome tweeter. The hard-domes (aluminum, etc) just fatigue my ear too much.

I am starting to really lean towards the Diamonds

my brother has those in his new bmw......omfg they are awesome (hex's) he has the 5 1/4's in his front doors and they kick ass!

I have always had boston pro 6.5 components for the last 10 years and his (hex's) made my boston's sound average at best!!!

Jim, the 165k2 Focals will absolutely not fit into the Supra. I know because I just tried to get them installed and there is no way they will fit. I too am going to try to get the Diamond Hex speakers, according to their website they are much more shallow than the Focals and *should* fit.

A local store is asking $399 for a set with the silk tweeter. Anybody know if that is a decent price?

$399 is what I am seeing too. They sound great. I have spent several afternoons listening to them. Definetly go with the Silk tweet.... very smooth!

you can find them cheaper on ebay. 165k2 speaks go for about 340+shipping on ebay too.

The current Hex can't hold a candle to the old Eton Diamond Hex, but still a nice speaker.

The other two sets are wonderful two, but you're comparing entirely different sonic signatures. The Focal of course is a metal tweet too...
