here's the lowdown....i have too many vehicles and i'm sick of my life being evolved around fixing/modding/spending money on machines. I just want to drive a vehicle 12 months of the year without having to ponder what mods i'll do next or what i can do to improve the handling or performance. I have my supra, my bike, and my escort. Obviously the escort for the winter and the other 2 for summer fun.

Now, in 1 month i'm selling the bike and the escort to buy a truck to fulfill my needs as a daily driver. HOWEVER if i buy a truck i'll have to park my supra for 4 years due to insurance issues. I don't want to continue switching from escort to supra every 6 months because frankly it's annoying, and my supra isn't the best daily driver. It isn't comfortable, it is a PIG on gas and most of all i don't feel very confident driving it everyday especially since it's 20 years old.

I bought my supra as my first ever car back when i was 16. I don't think i'm ever going to sell it so i think if i buy a truck, this downtime will give me the opportunity to really restore it to PRISTINE condition. I won't feel pressured because i will have 4 years to finish it!! now, if something breaks i'm stressing it because i need to use my car everyday.

So should i do that, OR should i just sell it and be done with cars for a while?? part of me wants to keep it, and part of me wants to sell it and just move on. I like the simplicity of just having one truck, as it really appeals to me right now. I know my car doesn't have as much done to it as some of the big dawgs here, but every car holds its own amount of sentimental value to their owners......

SELL IT TO ME FOR 200 BUXS. But no really keep it just keep it to the side buy parts when you can if you can't just let it sit in the corner with a start up every once in a while or just tear it completely down.

I know what you mean about wanting something reliable to drive every day. I say sell the bike and the escort and buy a Toyota P/U 4x4. I have a 92 4x4 I picked up as a DD, and in two years I havent really out more than $500 into it. The truck makes a good winter vehicle and good for off roading in the summer.

i'm not saying that my supra isn't reliable....in fact it has been AWESOME since i bought it, but it's the fact that it's 20 years old. There's something in the back of my miind that keeps bothering me everytime i drive the car. I know something is going to break, just when and where.

The problem with buying the truck is that i'll have to keep the supra off insurance for 4 years. 25 is the magical # for insurance companies here in Ontario so i have 4 years to wait until my rates are somewhat reasonable. Right now, my dad is insured for my supra in the summer, and the escort in the winter. If i were to buy a truck for 12 months use, then i won't be able to get someone to insure my supra since my dad will be under the truck.....

and yep, i'm staying Toyota but i want newer. Looking at the 95+ tacomas. 4x4 for sure becasue of Canadian snow, 5 sp, 3.4 V6 or 2.7 I4 (don't matter much to me)...

could your dad put the supra under his name as a pleasure car? that might help with isurance (and since your not going to be driving it everyday it will help with $$$)

get it insured at a classic or collectable. i think its like $12 a month and you can drive it like 3000 miles a year or something. better than nothing.

its not that i don't enjoy it. I'm growing older, well i'm 21 and the phase of fast, uncomfortable, non-practical cars are just passing by me. I don't care about that kind of stuff anymore.

When it's running right, about 90% of the time i have a blast. But i think i'd much rather enjoy a newer truck much more. I don't think i'm going to sell, instead park it and slowly bring it to showroom condition. If i do sell it be sure to look in the FS section for some goodies.

I'm in the same bought you are except, I think I'm to close to being done to turn back. I figure I'll get my car done, and GIVE up on cars all together for awhile, think about going back to school in making my life better.

Sell the bike and escort and buy the truck and just park the supra and spend money on it when you have it. Take pics of the progress to show your work. You will appreciate it once you see what you have done with it.

I was in the same dilema... i bought a newer vw gti 1.8turbo... use it as a daily driver... no modding it .. (for now). Had time to work on the supra... got alot of shit done. Way less stressful knowing you have to drive to work in 8 hours... so you gotta get the turbo back on... blah blah blah...

I also had a supra when i was 16... 87 blue mica pearl hardtop. Sold it for a more reliable honda for college... regretted it for 4 years... and bought a targa supra... nearing 400hp.
