QUESTION.../?

WELL THIS IS WHAT HAPPEN... I WAS RACING A WRX ON THE FREEWAY HEADING UP TO SAN DIEGO. I RACED HIM FOR ABOUT 5 MILES ON AND OFF. WHEN I GOT OFF THE FREEWAY AND TOOK THE STREETS (WITH NO STOP LIGHTS) TO MY FRIENDS HOUSE AND PARKED, I NOTICED THAT THE TEMPERATURE GUAGE WAS RISING. MY RESEVOIR TANK WAS FORCING WATER OUT OF THE THE RELEASE TUBE AND I HAD SOME SLIGHT SMOKE COMING FROM WHERE THE VALVE COVER IS AT. ( I WONDER IF I PUT TOO MUCH OIL IN THERE FROM DAYS BEFORE) ANYWAYS AFTER IT COOLED DOWN I DROVE IT HOME WITHOUT THE TEMPERATURE GUAGE RISING. WHEN I GOT HOME I NOTICED SOME WATER BEGINNING TO COME OUT OF THE RESERVOIR AGAIN. ONCE IT COOLED DOWN I TOOK OFF THE RADIATOR CAP TO SEE IF WATER WAS CIRCULATING FROM THE WATER PUMP, BUT IT WASNT. IT WAS JUST SITTING STILL IN THE RADIATOR. NOW EVERYTIME I DRIVE IT AND GET CAUGHT AT A LIGHT OR SOMETHING, THE CAR BEGINS TO GET HOT. WHAT CAN BE THE PROBLEM???

well since u noticed slight smoke, it MUST be u popped a hose, probably one of them bastard hoses behind the valve covers:anger:

my car is just starting to over heat as well. will a slipping belt cause the car to over heat? i mean like the water pump, fan, alternator, etc. belt have anything to do with it?

I DONT KNOW.... BUT YOU KNOW WHAT.... I HAVE A BELT THAT MUST BE SLIPPING TOO, BECAUSE EVERYTIME I TURN MY CAR ON IN THE MORNING THE BELT BEGINS TO SCREECH AND UNLESS I PRESS ON THE GAS REAL HARD, IT WILL CONTINUE TO SCREECH.

well if theres no steam/smoke/antifreeze leaking coming from anywhere its probably not a hose. If your fan is spinning too slow ur fan clutch could be messed up, to test dis, stick ur hand in it to see if u can stop it , if u cant stop it..and u hurt urself, den the fan is fine , usually if the water pump is going, it makes a awkward sound under ur hood, straining (kinda sounds like a powersteering pump low on fluid) or even a knocking sound.

dats probably ur alternator belt, go buy a squeaky belt fix spray from autozone!!! good as new

Yea if a belts slipping obviously its not turning your water pump which can reduce the cooling capacity. Also a worn out rad cap can cause the bubbling in the resevoir tank.

try to stop it with a stick den lol, if the clutch is fuked up it should stop pretty easy, if its fine, it wont stop. trust me.

Yea mine was giving me some troubles, so i put a new Toyota OEM rad cap on and its been fine ever since...

Well check this out... when i first turn on the car, i hear a cluckcluck sound from under the engine. as i am driving i hear a rattlling noise (kinda like) when i accelerate on the gas. i will check the belt but what got me thinking, is why isnt the water in the radiator circulating. secondly what kinda sound did you say that i should look out for if its the water pump. ?????

wait wait isnt the water in the radiator always sitting there? its not suppose to be moving around u kno, even if the engine is running. atleast in my supe.

but the water pump, mine made a knocking noise it was scary, but before that, when i reved the engine, it sounded like a loud screeching sound. kinda like when ur low on powersteering fluid..u kno the sound.

i dont think mine makes that sound... it sounds like rattling when i press the gas..... i think the only reason why the water doesnt circulate is because i have the thermostat in.. if the thermostat wasnt in, then i think it would constantly circulate. but i think i will tighten the belt up. it pisses me off cause i cant take my ride out no where where there will be alot of traffic... so the sound of a failing water pump sounds like the sound of an empty power steering reservoir??
