hello,
Talking about interior modernization in the other thread made me think of something that seems noone has come up with a solution for fixing...That is the Passenger airbag dash cover..the part that seems to curl up around the edges on every supra i have ever seen...
This bothers me because ive had people ask if my car has ever been in an accident(which it hasnt) and when I tell them no they say that it looks like the airbag was deployed...
So im thinkin since every other part of my interior is brand new factory parts and it looks like a brand new supra with an old passenger airbag, what can we do to fix this problem, besides buying a new one??
Has anyone ever tried anything or come up with a fix for this problem?

There's usually the same problem where the dash meets the transmission too. The dash, and airbag, warp over time. I've never heard of anyone doing anything about it, other than replacing them. If a new airbag costs too much, you can just remove it and cover something in leather with a similar texture to the dash. I did that with mine. It looks good, but obviously you'd lose the airbag functionality. It saves weight, so you can call it a performance modification rather than ghetto if you prefer.

sounds pretty good to know i can just buy a new one....only problem is making it look the same shade as the dash in the car...I hate the shiny armoralled leather look..to me leather is supposed to be dull looking, not greasy looking, but i guess the previous owner of my car thought otherwise..
I know this becasue I bought a new arm rest and it looks like new leather and my dash looks like armoralled leather..I havent tried armoralling the new stuff to try and make it match..this would prob work but i hate it...

I did find stuff that made my dash look non glossy and it looks newer

^^^^ yea i know it isnt but how can i do this...i do all my own detailing and i have pretty much everything you can get as far as detailing but i cant come up with something that will make the dash like new without starting to damage it...Ive come close..i mean my dash isnt nearly as greased as it used to be but i still cant get it to the "new" finish look

any suggestions..

anyone have any wrtie ups or pics or toyota diagrams on how to remove this...i know you gotta go in from under the dash from the glove box, but how does it separate from the airbag itself once i get the whole assembly out??
