Hi,

I have a Gulf-spec Supra which came without a passenger side airbag.
Is there a way I could install a passenger side airbag and make it fully functional?
What would I need? Airbag, airbag ECU, airbag sensors... Anything else?

Thx in advance for any help.

They were a rarely selected option in all models, but because of the cost, weight and losing the functionality of the glove box, no one that I have seen has ever bothered installing one. I'm curious why you would want to. If it's for aesthetics, there are other options, if it's for safety, I'd be concerned about it functioning properly. Even if someone did install one, I'm fairly certain no one has crashed and had it deploy correctly to know whether it was installed the right way or not. If it is for safety I'd be asking Toyota for their opinion.

It's definitely not for the looks, I wld just feel better having a fully functional airbag for any passenger that might ride with me, just in case.
But I guess ur right, I shld be asking Toyota.
Anyhow, if it's not do-able then I'll just go ahead with this:

Thx

No problem. Yes, safety is a concern. A gauge pod is one of the options. What I did when my glove box broke was cover the lid in leather and just sit in the space left by the glove box. The leather has the same texture as the dash so it blends quite well.
