PHR FTW!
I have a PHR Stage 3 and love it!
HKS and most Japanense turbo kits, are very laggy, like the Greddy T88,no boost unitl almost 6000rpms,on my PHR stage 3 GT72,i hit full boost at 4400rpms,and it pulls like a badass beyond redline.I have my rev limit set to 7200
But whatever single kit you go with, make sure to get a full fuel system, and engine managment,so you can take full advantage of the turbo

check out the videos on youtube and other place. the kai turbo is AMAZING. the spool produces a sound like NO other. sounds more like a jet fighter. if you have a 6 speed, lag shouldnt be a problem... as for no boost till 6000rpm id like to see the "basis" for that claim. larger turbos like 74mm pick up boost at about 4000rpm range and full boost by 4700-5000rpm (depending on engine work). also if you are auto or 6-speed that will matter as auto you can select a stall on the converter to get "near" or at you point of boost. most big turbo guys with auto will go with 3800 or 4000 stall. if you are 6 speed things like 2 step can help aid the spool a little.

honestly when it comes to lag. find a local supra near you. ask the guy for a test drive. and get a taste for yourself.

the phr kit is a nice set up as well. and lots of buyers have good things to say about the kit...

other mods:

fuel
boost controller
clutch/transmission
engine management
intercooler
cams/valves/springs/retainers (helps for higher reving)

before you take a dive to the single side. ask your self FIRST. what is your goal. street car? drag car? track car? dyno queen? show car? and then build according to that goal. otherwise you will waste lots of money and worse... lots of time.

In the MKIV FAQ section here, you'll find braddman's writeup on tech details and costs of a typical single turbo system, showing both high end and budget cost figures http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=349254

Like they said above, the right turbo for you depends on what you want to do with the car and what you like. For me the HKS T51R KAI is a nice setup but too big and too laggy for my taste. I think the PHR Stg2+ DBB is very nice, as are other similar kits in that size range by BL and SP.

fyi,PHR stages 1-5 kits come with an HKS exhaust manifold, and HKS wastegate!
the turbos are ITS,and the rest is PHRs parts!

Also ive ridden in a MKIV with a built head,T88,1000cc,HKS vpro f con,and i watched his rpms, and the car didnt know pull until almost 6000rpms,thats why I didnt get a Japanese turbo kit, like Greddy or HKS

I am assuming that when he says t51 that he is comparing it to a comparable sized phr turbo kit...something 900+hp capable......the t51 will spool as fast as any other turbo in the same class.....and as you mentioned, all the parts besides the turbo that matter are HKS...you can't lose with wither kit....The t51r is more turbo than the stage 2 kits come with...and therefore spools later, but when it does :yum:
