Ok guys, i need your help. We jsut had like a flash rain/flood, and i had to go pick up my friend who was stranded on campus. Little did i know that half of campus was flooded. I had to drive through a particularly deep part of submersed road, and then the car almost died. after i pushed through the deep part, the car started sputtering and stalled. I'm pretty sure i got water in the engine. I let the car idle for a few minutes, hoping the hot engine would evaporate the water. now whenever try to rev it hard or past 3000 rpms it sputters and misses. I checked the oilcap and it looks like i got water in the oil. Is there anything i can do to fix that without a rebuild??? will an oil change and filter change fix it? IF this car is fucked up, I'm selling it. I cant deal w/ this anymore...

please help

blow out the spark plug galley with compressed air or take off the 3rd cover and dry it out with rags, change the oil too

The #3 cylinder head cover is the black piece between the 2 cam/valve covers that the spark wire boots go into. It's held on with 4 14mm allen head pipe plugs which thread into the head.

Blow out the valley with air, change the oil, change the spark plugs, dry everything off.

AFM is one of the lower things in the bay too. If that gets wet it will be toast as well. That just happened a few months ago to my dad's MK3 too. Did you pull codes to see if it threw 31 or 24?

^^ yea I agree with trent on the AFM.... those things are so fragile when it comes to water.... a little bit with fuck 'em up, so most likely.... it's atleast the afm

can ou fix the AFM or ned a new one?

maybe you can get the electronics from an afm at a junkyard... but I don't think you can fix it.
