I just bought some stock wheels from somebody that came with new Sumitomos (275/40/17) in the back. I need new front tires however. I'm looking for overall handling, including rain.

What do you recommend, Sumitomos up front as well? Pirelli Supersport? Bridgestone Potenzas? Nitto 555 Extreme Performance? Or spend extra for Yokohoma Sport AVS?

I'm looking for 245/45/17, and I haven't seen SO3s as an option at either Tirerack or DiscountTire.

What's wrong with mix and match? If you're someone who likes to conserve money, there is nothing wrong with cheap times up front and quality tires in the back. Unless you plan on entering a road racing competition, you won't have a problem.

mix and match tires is a myth brought on by townfair tire sales persons so you buy 4 expensive tires instead of 2.
