I was coming home and my fanbelt on the power steering pump snapped - good thing I was only about a 20 yards from the house. I replaced the belt but the power steering pump is making a high-pitched noise. Also, when we filled up the resevoir - it threw fluid back up through the resevoir - a puddle of about 1.5 feet in diameter. Is the power steering pump frozen or what do you think might be wrong? Thanks.

well if it threw fluid back up i doubt it's frozen, but it could be getting their, have you neglected to add psf ?

how easy was the pump to turn by hand?

when you re-fill the resivor turn the steering wheel lock to lock a few times, and check the level,
