i wasted one pretty bad. Im bone stock except the exhaust which had the silencer in it. Try it out, there is no shame when racing friends, unless you guys talked shit or sumthing. Everyone knos once you go turbo you'll roast that prelude alive.

Type S? There is a Prelude Type S (JDM) that is 220hp stock, VTEC... higher compression than the US versions... but i'm guessing thats not what he has. Type SH? That is Vtec, and it'll be a close race... i'd even say up to driver skill. Fastest 0-60 I've seen is 6.7, but most tests put it at 7.1. Or is it the 4th gen Prelude S? That one is a slug (non vtec) that anybody can take. I have a 97 Prelude vtec as well, and am still a fan...

im thinkin he actually means TYPE SH
the newer 97+ models i heard these are actually slower because of more weight due to heavier suspension componenets
so to review its the same motor as regular 97+ prelude but just heavier
am I right? Type SH 97+?
my bet would be on the supra

Type Sh has the same engine as the regular prelude. The only difference is the suspension. I own a 97 as my everyday vehicle. Damn thing is slow as hell. Integra GSR's walk all over me. Too heavy and not enough power. NA would win hands down.

My car has 50k on it, runs strong and pulls hard to redline. GSR Curb Weight: 2667 lbs 0-60 in 7.1 seconds, Prelude Curb Weight: 2954 lbs 0-60 in 7.5secs. Funny the highway is when they leave my ass. 100mph+ they pull like crazy.

Thats really odd. By the way, if you check back in Motor Trend, Car & Driver etc. you'll see that the prelude doesn't really go 0-60 slower than 7.1, it should be faster in fact, with a quarter mile of 15.4. The auto one is the only one slower (7.8). Infact, if you add a cold air intake, almost instantly that time improves.
Blah enough about the lude,... just race that fool already! If he stays in the VTEC band from 1st through 3rd though, watch out!

My girl has a Prelude Type S. Hers is a SOHC non-VTEC w/an AEM intake. She runs a 17.1 on the quarter. I don't think a Type S is a concern. Maybe a DOHC VTEC w/mods will give you a run but a stock Type S probably won't.

There was a thread on this a while back. you should win, the sh has thing (forgot what its called) that controls wheel slippage kind of like lsd but shittier and it ways the car down. the S is not that great either my friend with a type s has intake and exhaust and dyno'd at 167 not to mention ive already beating him with the same mods on bald tires. so pretty much just do it.
