I was told that the fan(s) of off a mitsubishi eclipse/eagle talon/plymouth laser were bolt in fans on the supra(supposedly easy install). So yesterday i went to the junk yard and removed both fans off of a 1992 ealge talon for 25 bucks. Today I TRIED to install the fan(s) but they only have one bolt hole that lines up. I tried both fans in the stock location but only one top bolt hole is there for it bolt upand the SUPRA radiator dosnt even have bottom bolt holes. Also the fan isnt even tall enough to strecth all the way from top to bottom so I couldnt even sit the bottom of the shroud in the bottom catch(so the fan is just hangin of the radiator with on bolt hole....not secure worth a shit).
The I tried to install both fans but the combination of the both is over a 1inch longer then the entire radiator(barely even fits betweent the frame rails). So now I ask...WHY DOES IT NOT FIT IF SEVERAL OF YOU ON THE FORUMS HAVE DONE THIS MOD AND HAVE TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A EASY BOLT ON? I'm not mad or anything but i did waste my lunch time and hold up one of the lifts, it's just that I dont understand why mine dosnt fit right?

any answers?

Yes i know that is the thread and both ppl on there both said they have used talon fans and thiers worked. What year am i supposed to take them off of? Or am I going to have to make some brakets? I have alot of those radiator zip ties things left over over from past oil/tranny cooler installs....but I have heard nothing good about these ties for a long period installation..anyone have any info???

I don't think anyone ever said they were plug and play. They said the fans would FIT. If you want to take the low road you need to improvise. I don't see anything wrong with the through core mounts. It is either that or fab your own.

You can make brackets fairly easily enough. Home Depot has Aluminum Flatbar (usually on same isle as bolts and fasteners). If you get a piece of this, a handful of nuts, washers and bolts, a drill, a vise and a hacksaw, (and oh yeah, a little imagination). Should be easy enough to figure a way to attach them to your old mounts.

Good Luck!!!

I attached my Flex-a-lite 210 over the radiator top clamps with predrilled strapping from AutoZone (check the exhaust section). Used the stock claimp bolts to hold both.

I used the same straping on the bottom, under the radiator into some self-tapping screws I had put into the bottom cross member just in front of the radiator bottom tank.

SHE WORKS!!!

I installed my fan today. I went and got some nylon ties that I have used before to install trans and oil coolers before. They worked really well except that I had the stupid A/C condensor in my way the whole time. I wired the fan straight to my ignition switch so it is always on(Can i use the stock DSM temp switch that was on the other fan?). Works pretty good....not as loud as stock fan. I didnt notice any gain in hp at all...revs a little quicker(Dont really know....was driving camrys and 4runners all day)according to the butt dyno. Maybe i will gain some gas mileage out of this install???

I really felt the differance in my 87T. The motor feels like it just wants to skip the turbo lag and jump right up to 11 psi!

92nat, I really notice a much quicker warm-up in the winter, (it's maybe 20 F here on the average morning). HP gain of course is only changed relative to when the clutch on the mechanical fan was engaged. I do have lots more space, and the heat that gets pushed out at idle is absolutely tremendous: much, much more than the mechanical. At idle, when there is no forced-air passing through the engine compartment, the mechanical fan is at its slowest. When you are doing 95 MPH, the mechanical fan cuts out. Just the reverse of what you need, and the problem the electric fans solve.
