I'm about to pull the trigger on making the purchase of the ProEFI during the BF sale. Anybody know of any reputable shops/tuners in the Virginia/Maryland area that are familiar with this system? Thanks

Reputable or not you will have to make your own decision but I believe Paul at Motorsport performance in Frederick md, is one of the only tuners in the region you listed. Just make sure you read reviews and ask for referrals before making a decision.

When will you be ready for a tune? If there is enough interest perhaps we could convince someone such as Larry from sp to come out.

You fail.. Ray Wilson @ PFSupercars in Frederick, MD has been tuning proefi for almost 4 years now - 301-874-0611, info@pfsupercars.com

If you buy it from Larry@ SoundPerformance, most likelly the box will be 99% tuned and ready. Give him your specs (turbo size, injectors, rev limit desired...) and it will be shipped ready to go, will start and idle like stock, and will drive like stock!!
get the cable and you can make other minor changes!!

Protein shake (dont ask) has a garage with a few lifts, I was thinking about getting a few cars together and flying Larry in??

I was thinking that the base map would be pretty damn good myself, and the traction control, cold start etc would be pretty decent, and a good tuner would be able to fine tune it. I know the base map is better then what comes with the AEM units. Those maps barely seem to get you onto the trailer. I still think Larry may be the best bet though, considering he probably has installed and tuned more of these then anyone, and I'd want the maps, traction control etc all dialed in.

kazuma... a base tune is good but its certainly not a final tune and it wouldn't make any sense to get a standalone and then not tune it fully and properly.

I'm also still wanting to pick up a ProEFI and the BF sale prices are great, but am hesitant because of the lack of good local tuners... so if we can populate the list further then that would be great. There is another thread for this as well, but oh well...

^^ I agree, i'm about to pull the trigger and gohead and have my father drop the supra off at extrememotorsports in MD to begin having the proefi installed. They are an authorized dealer and i've heard they are very familiar with the supra.

Larry is good also is Paul efantis & Alpha. Paul & Alpha does most ov my tuning.

I'm wanting a pro-efi myself and moving to Maryland. The BF sale price is very attractive but I am hesitant because of known pro-efi tuners to the supra community in Maryland.

It seems the area has a few interested! Maybe we could set up a session with 1 of the above mentioned tuners?

I will be purchasing the ProEFI from SP tomorrow. Depending on where you are going to meet up and get tuned...i may be interested in this if its closer than the 8Hr. drive i would have to get to SP's shop.

Frederick MD is 5hrs. 15mins from me. Sound performance is roughly 8 1/2hrs away. Thats a bit closer, so i may be interested in doing this...just depends when i guess.

that extra 3 hrs are so much more worth it!! and I guarantee you Larry will get it dialed in within 1~2 hrs on dyno (minimal time) compared to other shop mentioned!
or get Alpha, since he travels/tunes, he's a great tuner from what I have heard.

I'm in the market for a pro-efi to, but I've heard lots of horror stories from the locals about MSP and Paul's work, heard that PFS does Pro-Efi tuning as well, but the guy that owns the place never returns calls, nor does he ever answer the phone. It's almost like he doesn't want any business.

In the end i'll just trailer my car to SP rather then be a guinea pig, but I do like the idea of Alpha coming to the Metro DC Area.

Of all the options discussed so far I think it would be ideal to have Larry fly to the NY/NJ area (or whatever is central to those serious about getting tuned) and spending the time needed to get everyone set up. We'll have to discuss with him directly about it but from what I've heard from other tuners its not much more expensive to have someone fly out for tuning, as long as there are a minimum number of tunes set up to make it worth their while.

Well, I was going to purchase a pro-efi but none of my emails or pm's were answered so I purchased something else... I understand the sales are off the charts but I'm not going to chase someone to spend my money. O well
