My friend has been working on his car, due to a bhg!, everything has been put back together and now it wont start doesnt even turn over or make a sound from the starter.

I found some wires and shit undone and he doesnt know if they belong to anything with the starter so if you know what these wires do or what we could look at to troubleshoot this problem drop a line...

I just took my whole engine apart, and if I recall correctly, those brown ish wires all were attached to a screw and went into the side of the block. I believe they are gorund wires? I just know a screw was through the centre of the holes on like 3-4 brown wires that looked very much like those.

yeah, the brown+white wires with the thick wire is a very important ground, bolt it to the chassis. the red plug looks like it's for the vsv that controls the EGR, it's not needed if you don't have an EGR but otherwise there should be a thing for it below the rear of the intake manifold. not sure about the gray one. the ground not being connected could definitely not be causing your car to start.

just grounded it out on the bottom intake plenum like stated the bolt we had left over went in perfect so we know its now correct, but the car still has the same problem , when attempting to start it will have a minor click sound that comes from the coils *sorta but No sound from the started at all. we have looked at most visible fuses and all are ok, but the solid metal ones we cannont tell.
does anyone know which fuse is for the starter?
or does anyone know what else could be looked for , with this issue

thanks alot.

starter contacts could be dirty, try replacing them. if you hear the click that's the contacts closing but it doesn't crank, that could be why.

Ok , so we went back cleaned every thing still wouldnt turn the starter. So I decided to jump start the starter manually with a positive wire going from the starter positive side to a positive battery terminal while the key was being turned forward.

So the mother fucker turns over no problems fuel pressures on the rise oil pressure then it becomes apparent that the bitch isnt going to fire it just sputters, when I let off the starter. and nothing happens..

Now Im guessing its a timming issue so he calls the guy he got the head from and he said the cams where never aligned up tdc or to there correct spec so now, were going to need what parts and stuff to line them up?

I figured cam puller and timming light wouldnt that be everything needed to get the cams dialed into sync with the cam gears, and then line the crank notch tdc and in line with the cam notches then put the cam belt on correctly and it should fire in proper order and run.

Or its going to be towed to a place locally and get fixed cause we dont know what the issue is with the damm starter everything was fine before now this shit and the cams out of sync, had a cracked cam journal bolt and problems one after another :sadwavey:
