It's been mentioned that the R154 is prone to break it's input shaft under high horsepower conditions. Can anyone tell me where and how this breakage occurs? Does the shaft break in two? do the splines strip? What exactly happens.

You might want to post this question in the{ 86.5-92 }section.

You have a few views on this .Most likely people are looking to see what a R154 is.

I know that the R154 5 spd trans is used in 7mgte MkIII's.

The parts are readily avalilable from Toyota unlike the V160"s for the TT 6 spds.
