I just wanted to know what radar detectors your guys were using in your cars and if you recommend it. I have a cobra 9 band in my cougar and it won’t pick up radar until you’re on top of it. It also goes off 24/7 because of automatic doors. I don’t mind spending $$$ if it will keep me out of a ticket :p

Valentine 1.

One of the great features is that you can turn off the X band. If you do that, it will eliminate about 50% of the false alarms.

Go to Valentine's website. They have instructions. It is really easy.

I paid $400 for my V1 a few months back and I got it directly from the valentineone website. I love the bogey count and the arrows :)

They are only $400 direct from V1, and that's the only way you can get them. Although over at my friend's dealership that he works at, they get them for $375 or so each because they do a lot of hardwire installs of the units into BMWs and other various luxury cars.

I've also had a V1 for the past 6 years now.

they come out with software upgrades every so often. Depending on when you bought it, you send it back and they upgrade to the newest setup. You have to pay for it though. I paid $55 to upgrade mine last year and I have had it for four years.

Another happy Valentine 1 user. Paid $400 from Valentine direct, where did you find it for $500? Sounds like a rip, I thought (as someone already mentioned) you could only buy them from Valentine anyway?

Never been a fan of the Escort stuff...but they have a new Passport 9500 that looks kind of cool.

I just like my arrows...and the fact I picked up a K-band OK state trooper on the highway going 70 for 1 minute and 47 seconds before I saw him. Yes I timed it, yes that is way over a mile's notice. I had just come over a hill, I had to go down a huge slope, then come back up, go over another hill and there he was. Had constant, increasing warnings the further I drove, never cut out at all.
