i finally thought I would re-do one here since it was very scattered.

Well..... Let the games begin!

I just purchased a 1988 toyota pickup, 2wd, 170,xxx miles and a huge ugly camper. the truck i bought it from has been in the same family since it was bought off the lot ..

The truck came with a engine with less than 1,000 miles on it, right before i sold the motor ( which was last thursday ) i tried to roast the tires and all it did was bog down. just thought to myself, "time to make a change to that".

So that project begins. i sold the motor and the next day ordered the 2jz-gtte toyota supra engine. they come complete with turbos, intake, exhaust, belts, pumps, and un-cut wiring harness with ECU. the engine total shipped .. these engines put out 300hp @ 315ftlbs of torque. the old 22r only had 120hp and 140ftllbs if im not mistaken. it will be very fun.
here are some engine bay shots before motor was pulled.

Here is the truck with no engine in it. got the motor last monday and put on timing and acc. belt, Denso spark plugs, re-sealed the water pump ( jdm couldnt find one in the US) also installed a new auto tensioner and front oil seal.

Image

heres the engine bay empty and waiting for the 2jz. just geting it all prepped, moving lines and cables out of the way that might get hit. Look at those mirrors HAHA, total sleeper.

Image

Had to take off the grill, bumper, and the A/C (for now). also chop the bar to just get the engine in there. gonna make a bracket so i can have that piece still in use and be removable so the motor can be pulled out easy. that piece being moved made all the difference.

(Without my friend George this wouldn't have been possible.) George grinding some of the engine mount making for a clean area to weld.

2jz in and mounted

Image

Side shot. that U shape in the turbo inlet stuck out a lot making it time consuming. but it worked out

The hood clears. no rubbing anywhere!

looking good man...i would love to build 1 of this to
plz let ass know how the t67 turbo from cxracing perform

it actually performs great! this is my 2nd one though since I didnt take care of the first one. didnt do cool downs and just beat the hell out it without letting it idle before and after runs. so the journal took a shit and started scrapping the walls. so this time and bored out the oil restrictor from .093 to .125 and it has been great. cant complain. they start spooling up at 1900-2000 rpms and hit full boost by 3k rpms with no problem. im at 8psi now and it pulls hard.

awesome man. it was like watching a build in fast forward all in pretty much 1 post lol.

i swapped a 22r into a 1973 2wd toyota hilux pickup a few years ago. it was crazy. they are very torquey motors lol. and mine was fairly quick compared to the 18RC engine that they come with.

if i ever get an opportunity i will definitely swap a 2jz into something crazy. then i can tub out the rear end and put some ridiculously wide tires on the back all stealth like.

you need to turn up the boost on that thing. bout 20psi and she should come to life :D

also please get video. it will be a whole new level for me to hear a toyota pickup with a singled 2jz in it.

lol nice vid
truck sounds wicked.

commentary was deluxe also.
i always love a good video with some maniacal laughter after a good boost

sickkk build man!!

#24 ·
damn dude, that thing is sick as all hell! WOOO, not just lift it up and put some boggers on it! haha jk jk, but seriously that thing has to turn heads right? i mean pull up to some unsuspecting car and just crush them? and have you had it dynoed yet?

#25 ·
It turns some heads but not that much. They here the exhaust and the turbo spool and dont know what to think. No dyno yet, Once I get it tuned ill see what its making to the wheels. Ive killed a porsche, sr20 240 and almost a brand new turbo porsche. not sure the model but it pulled away on me slowly.

Looks good bud. I have a 4g swapped Mighty Max with an 8.8 rear, and about to get my r154. I've been driving the piss out of it on the truck tranny, LOL..

Its one insane truck thats for sure. It still smokes tires thru 1st and 2nd then pulls super hard in 3rd. I'd say the way it sits now I could easily run a mid 12 in the quarter mile. with slicks and the boost turned up to 15-18psi, 11's shouldnt be a problem.
