Ran 9.7, 9.9, 10.0, 10.1

While everyone was having fun in Vegas, us dumb midwesterners braved the cold and went to the track on Saturday. I think we had about a dozen MKIVs there.

Had some issues with one IC pipe that popped off 3 out of 4 passes :( And we have a very badly slipping 3rd gear now.

I have a really cool video of us spinning the slicks, argh! Could not muster better than a 1.47 60' with most times being in the 1.5s. I think we need a wider slick now. We still ran our best 1/8th track mph at about 116.

Ran 9.7, 9.9, 10.0 and 10.1 and did NOT hit the wall or spin the car at all this year :) Guess I should not complain then. The 10.0 pass we launched way too hard and spun the slicks badly. On the 10.1 pass the NOS ran out at about half track. With all these little problems we had Saturday, it really makes me realize how lucky we got with that 9.54 pass last year.

Getting any streetable car in the 9's is still a major feat. Great runs, and good luck next year.

Lar,

Great job. Those are still incredible times. Whats the story behind the IC pipe popping off 3 times? With slicks and the auto tranny how does the car handle on the track at these speeds?

Take care, Richard

Congrats! It's almost getting boring to hear these times from you guys:)
Advantage with a TRD Limited Slip

Larry,

Or anyone else with drag experience for that matter, would a TRD limited slip help reduce the risk of spinning on the track? If not, how does the TRD 'upgrade' help at all? Is it worth it? Does anyone here who drag races have the TRD diff installed?

I think the topic has been covered, so I'll do a search, but if anyone has a short answer, I'd appreciate it.
Way to go on those numbers!!! Definately clockwork. are those times corrected? or the times on the actual slip?:p  :p

I cant wait to buy my SP kit! :D

Actual times.
I know...i was going with the recent trend. :D ;) :D
Nice Lar.... In the vid I posted you can hear my car losing traction around half track. You can actually hear the tires squealing!

I corrected those times using altitude, temperature and track conditions from the vegas meet. Just so we can compare apples to apples. Note that I only used the NOS for the burnout, ran low boost, actually negative boost, and did not even touch the gas pedal during the runs. I even mounted the slicks in the front and put the skinnys on the rear to make traction more of a challenge. The track we run at is on the side of a mountain and runs uphill. I only use the gas pedal and high boost to post amazing dyno numbers that mean nothing in the real world.

Just wait untill I really try!!

BWAHAHAHAAHAHHAHA!!!!! Larry thats too funny :D
Great runs Lar!! Great to see people that run fast without excuses...:D

SW
Congrats on the runs!! Get JV a NHRA License for 9sec passes and take the car to rt.66. Maybe a 1.39 60' would be in the future at rt.66! Good luck trying to break your own record.
