well i have slowly been putting the motor back together. its mostly stock. minus the decking and planing done. Plus i i ever get that OBX header i ordered a month ago!!!!!! anyway i was putting the head on her this morning, torque it to 75FT-LBS and plane on retorqueing it. so how long should i wait before i retorque??? and is retorqueing to 80FT-LBS a bad idea??? ARP head bolts. factory headgasket. and when i retorque do i back one off and retorque to 80FT-LBS or just torque it strait to 80??

well I kinda had a similar question a while ago....I believe it was concluded that you back off a crunch or whatever, and then retorque to 75. It was also said that it was best to do this one at a time, following the bolt tightening sequence. I think 80 is a little bit too much for the factory gasket. 75 is a safe way to go. And uh....I'm assuming anytime past 1000 miles is a good time to retorque. Hope that helped.
