Whenever I rev the engine the lights get brighter. They say that is a sign of the alternator being bad, but could it be the battery because I just got a brand new alternator from Autozone yesterday. My belts are pretty tight too.

Its not the alternater, its brand spanikn new. Just got it yesterday.

is there a way to take apart the alternator and see if its broken?

Alright I got the alternator and battery both checked today. The alternator was fine and after charging the battery they said it was good. So i put the both back in, turn the key...nothing.
I bring out the jumper cables, jump it, turn the key...nothing.
turn the key...nothing. turn the key...nothing. WTF is my probnlem here?

Oh and when i was tightening the battery down my ratchet hit the alternator, made a spark and a little black mark in the alternator. Dont know if that could have done something, like blown a fuse.

No it used to do that, all go out before cranking, but now theres nothing. I checked all the cables and got new terminals and connectors.
