RIMS/Tires ? (te37's)

what is the widest tire you can fit on a 10.5" wide rims? have them fit so it will not effect handling capabilities...

because i was interested in the VOLK TE37's but i beileve the widest they make them in is 10.5".

can you take them to a tire shop or some shop to have them custom widened or would that not be wise?

maybe 19" rims with the widths widened if possible... :)

also how badly is 19" rims on handling and performance capability compared to 18" rims...?

thank you for any feedback replies!

hopefully steve jarvis or any other tire/wheel knowledgeable/experienced person can read and reply to this :)
You really wouldn't want to have a set of Volks modified... and 10.5 will fit plenty of tire under the rear, depending on the offset of course. You could put 295s one there no problem, but if you want the lightest combo possible 275 are about 4#s lighter per tire than the next size up 285.
tha'ts true... volk rims are too good to custom modify... i was just curious to see.. or maybe volk themselves can modify the rims if paid correctly.. :)

i was wondering also because a lot of the cars in japan dont'r eally have THAT wide of tires... and most of the supras pact a Load of POWER...
especially the topsecret widebody supra.. figures with the custom wide body kit they would put a wider rim/tire but i believe it's the 10.5" rims and maybe 265 or 275 tire...
check steve's tire/wheel fitment table, its the sticky post at the top of the main page

people in japan are more interested in drifting, not dragracing :D
more tire means its harder to break traction and drift and keep the tires spinning.
yeah but for road racing wouldn't you want as much traction as well? to grip and handle the turns and coming out?

wider the better no?
wider the better yes, if youre trying to be the fastest around an autocross or for roadracing. the fastest way thru a corner is not drifting thru it, everyone knows that. if youre main focus is on drifting, like many racers are in japan, then less tire is better, to a certain extent.
