I was lookin for some help and people's opinions on clutches. I am tryin to chose between the RPS Stage 3 w/ sprung hub and the Mueller Flywheel and the HKS Triple Disc clutches. I am interest in everyone's opinions on these clutches and flywheels. I would like to know your personal experiences. Also, any opinions on how streetable the HKS Triple Disc is. I will be running a T78 setup. So I am lookin for the best clutch to go with that turbo.

I have used both...broke several HKS triple disks and never ran very good (and it's a pain to live with), I currently have an RPS stage 3 and lw flywheel, have run really well with it and no problems at all.
I just took out a ClutchMasters LF and RPS 6 puck sprung. You need a strong calf for this setup but it works pretty well in the car and I never had any real problems with it. I expected it to be more quite than it was but was still less noisey than an HKS triple. I've talked with a few that have the triple and tried one out. It was very light and easy to operate once broke-in but they said it was a bit of a pain during the break-in period. It's solid disks and FW so it makes for a very loud tranny.
I'm trying the TRD twin sprung hub disk next to see how that goes... less expensive than HKS, should be more quiet, and heard it holds up pretty well.
i have 200miles on the stage 3 with the light flywheel.
it feel real good but it sounds like i have a twin set up
i also have cams and that does not help the noise

You are using a sprung disc correct? What flywheel did you go with and is there any certain reason to go with the one that you did or did you just try it just because? Thanks.

I have an RPS stage 3 unsprung hub and stock flywheel...it has lasted me a little over a year and I drag race with it mostly with 6000-7000 rpm clutch dumps. I always let it cool off between runs and it has never slipped on me yet. I am wanting to do a lightweight flywheel setup or I would go with this clutch over and over again...it has proven itself in my car for sure.

Yes I am using a sprung disk. I have the Mueller lw flywheel, but I would go for the Fudenza(spelling ?) lw flywheel now as it's cheaper and easier to come by. We are using this one in Jesus' 10 second (soon to be nines :) supra and it works just as well.

I JUST REPLACED MY FACTORY CLUTCH TODAY. FACTORY CLUTCH LASTED ME FOR 2 YEARS AT BPU. I WENT WITH THE RPS STAGE 3 AND FIDANZA FLYWHEEL. THE CLUTCH IS ALOT DIFFERENT FROM STOCK I CAN TELL YOU THAT MUCH, I STALLED COMING OUT OF TITAN MOTORSPORTS TAKING IT FOR A SPIN SEE HOW IT FEELS. IT ENGAGES PRETTY HARD BUT DRIVABLE I GUESS I STILL NEED TO GET USED TO IT.

THE ONLY DOWNSIDE FROM IT IS THE RATTLELING. I HATE IT. SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHINGS BROKE OR LEFT A NUT LOOSE. BUT I GUESS EVERYBODYS SOUND LIKE THAT SO I HAVE TO SETTLE FOR IT AND GET USED TO IT.

Does it stop rattling after 1st gear is engaged or the clutch is depressed?

RPS sprung hub in backwards?

I have my Supra at Speedcraft in Orange Park and they said that the disc from the RPS stage 3 sprung hub didn't match the lightened flywheel. They said that when the disc is pressed against the flywheel, the disc hits the flywheel bolts and the throwout bearing. Is it installed backwards? Or is it the wrong disc all together? Thank God they didn't move the car because they noticed it in time. Any suggestions?
