I'll take an EV Supra ! AS LONG AS IT"S ALL TOYOTA !!!
Make it look EXACTLY like the FT-1 ! Right your wrongs TOYOTA !
Honestly, between a 100% Toyota 100% electric thing that looks like the FT-1 and wears a Supra name, and the BMW Zupra thing - I'd take the Zupra all day and twice on Sunday. I don't say that lightly.
If Toyota does make a 100% electric sports car they should just call it the FT-1 or some other alphabet soup name they pull out of a hat, and avoid furthering the divisive nonsense with the Supra name - no need to trash 'Supra' the way Ford did with the Mach-E or Mitsubishi did with the Eclipse 'crossover'.
But it is Toyota's name to do with as they please, the Zupra's enough evidence that they don't give a shit about the opinions of guys like me, no matter how many Toyotas we've bought over the years.

I've driven a lot of the fast Teslas and yes they're insanely fast especially from a stoplight dig. Yes EV's are the "the future" and all the hip sexy rage right now but I honestly don't give a shit. I'd rather have a beat up 1.6L Miata than any of the 100% electric cars on the market right now.

Oh i meant that by the fact that they were 2 seaters only and not really 2+2. Anyway an electric car is different when it comes to who makes the parts. Rn the motors are made by Blue Nexus. Which is a joint of Aisin, Denso, and Toyota. The batteries however, are from Panasonic or CATL from china. Tesla has an advantage due to having a giant Giga factory for their electric cars.
The FT-1 I sat in was a 2+2 coupe. It also had the most spectacularly perfect front seats I've ever experienced. If those seats alone had made it into the MKV, I'd be that much closer to buying one despite my misgivings with its nature and origin.

Isn't GM going to release a electric crossover thing also, and badge it with the Corvette name?
They apparently thought Ford did a great job naming the Mustang Mach-E pile o'shit.

Probably. I wouldn't be surprised if a Bag'o'Dicks Board of Directors collectively made the Hollywood mistake of thinking 'there's no such thing as bad press'. The Mach-E certainly did light the internet on fire across all of Mustangdom, neatly splitting the OG's that were annoyed-to-disgusted by it, and the smug leghumping fanbase that'd be delighted to sycophantically gush over whatever Ford does just because it annoys the OG's.

Apparently toyota got a solution to that. They made a simulated Manual Transmission.

Dude if you don't innately understand why that isn't a solution to what I'm talking about, I'm not sure that any wall of text I can summon is going to enlighten you.

I already know why, I'm just saying it from the manufactures POV that's why.
We're clearly talking past each other - I fully understand what their corporate suit types are thinking and why those ideas get traction in their hugbox boardrooms.

What's confusing me is why you think Toyota needs you to speak for them in this way. Especially when literally everyone in this thread is fully tracking the how and why Toyota leadership and corporate leadership of other car companies espouse that kind of thinking, and most of our discussion in this thread inherently acknowledges it.

Think its just my experience from chatting about cars though it always in reddit. Cuz there a lot of people i seem to talk seem to make assertions that are mostly not rooted in reality. Because of that, I have this peecedens to assume.

This isn't Reddit. Please adjust your thinking and consideration around here.

Probably not gonna be the case. Electric cars don't really need long hoods. Plus it says it will most likely be a 2+2 according to the rumor. The ft-1 and ft-hs were both 2 door roadsters.
Bruh ! Please research before you post if you don't know. BOTH the FT-1 AND FT-HS were 2+2 ! Do you NOT know the definition of a roadster?

A roadster is a two seat OPEN (convertible) car. ex: Miata, and Z4. The Zupra is also NOT a roadster. SMH.

You are right Jeff. Call it an FT-1 and I'll still buy it. The Zupra should have been called the FT-2 ! LOL

You know who else is building an inline 6? Dodge, of all people. Looks pretty rad from what I read into it...

As for EV Supras... I mean... I don't care how fast an EV is. It could be the best looking car I've ever laid eyes on. It's kinda like looking at a Stradivarius versus, you know, hearing it. One of those things will fill your soul with delight.

F'in Dodge, how come those bastards keep making stuff we don't ask for but don't realize we secretly lust for? It's like they're saying, we know you're not thinking about it, and we know you wouldn't be caught taking a quick glance, but we know you really want it. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but we know you're gonna' one day hop on our Car Configurator and think to yourself.

I dunno, best efforts at reconciliation for years of mediocrity? :p

Thanks! To me, the way a car sounds is one of the highest qualities a car can have. If I win the lottery, I will almost certainly own two exotics. One, a Ferrari 458, because I've always wanted a Ferrari since I was a little kid and they are really well balanced cars. Plus, I mean... you have two ears, figure it out. :p

Second car is going to be an LFA. I don't care that my Supra is likely on a similar level, performance wise, my Supra does NOT sound that good, not even close.

I've yet to hear an EV, no matter how fast, that makes me give even a single, solitary care. To carry on the musical analogy, the best sounding EV still sounds like a kazoo to me. Yeah, it's a noise, but... it's not exactly a pleasing one.

What'd I say about Dodge, and yes te72, they seem to be doing a great job of making amends by swan song-ing the Challenger with 1,025 h.p. and an 8 SECOND quarter mile. o_O WTF, Dodge!

Mmmmm, yes. A number of cars are worthy of a buy just for the exhaust note. LFA certainly on the list. Ferrari F355, naturally aspirated Nissan RB, Single turbo tubular header'd 2JZ, Murcielago, 575, Maserati Gran Turismo cross plane Ferrari V8, Mazda 3 rotor, Mustang Coyote V8, 911 GT3 RS, air-cooled 911. These engines exhaust notes play the strings of our humanity, well mine at any rate.

That article you linked suggested that Challenger will sustain over 2g on the skidpad. Having autocrossed with plenty of the pigs, I can confidently say that's definitely a misprint, especially on those tires... 245's on the front of a car that heavy is NOT going to turn. Not the point of the car anyhow. Now, 2g in a straight line, in the first 60 feet? Sure, I could see a car that powerful hitting those numbers. Not a snowball's chance in hell it's doing that on a skidpad though...

Nice choices of good sounding cars. I was tempted to buy a 355 about ten years ago, shortly before we wisely decided to put the money toward the down payment on our house. But... I mean... I was tempted. If I could live in a 458 I'd sell the house. :p
