Hello,

I am new to the supra community & had a few ?’s I thought someone may be able to help me with.

1. What is the most effective combination of BPU parts ? (Brands, etc)
2. At what point do I need to upgrade the fuel system & go single ? RWHP #’s on pump gas ?
3. Is the Targa less rigid than a hard top coupe ?, heavier ?

Thank you for your time & responses.

Hello,

1. There doesn't seem to be any major differences from brand to brand as far as making HP. There are however quality differences. This would be my recommendation.

Rod Millen Motorsports downpipe
TRD, Apexi N1, or Thermal Research exhaust. They are all full stainless it just depends on what look you want. I personally would do the TRD.
Greddy boost cut controller.
Manual boost controller (ball and spring type).
Intake "MAX AIR" from MVP Motorsports.
Greddy 3 row intercooler.
Apexi S-AFC fuel computer.

2. It is a good idea to at least upgrade the injectors at anything over 500rwhp.

3. The targa cars are a little heavier (about 75lbs.) and less rigid, but I didn't see any noticeable reduction in magazine performance. The targa is very flexable with the top off.

Thank you Steve. I will take your TRD suggestion, I have always been a fan of TRD. My ? about the targa was in reference to road courses. I appreciate your response.

Thx

My car does fine on the roadcourse. I think the hardtop is a better roadrace platform, but I doubt you will feel the difference "seat of the pants" while doing driving schools on street tires. I haven't use R compound tires on this car yet so I can't speak to that.

The above is my exact BPU+ configuration with the TRD exhaust, minus the S-AFC.

That Steve sure knows what he's talking about. ;)

Steve,

1. BCC: $95
2. Hallman MBC: $75
3. RMM DP: $300
4. TRD Exhaust: $700 (1st gen)
5. MaxAir Box: $250
6. Greddy 3 row: $1500

I dyno'd 425.4 rwhp and 447.8 rwt at BPU (No FMIC). My best trap came after the FMIC: 119.7 mph.

Best bang for the buck is to do everything but the FMIC.

My guess would be the TRD.

The Greddy SP is not full stainless. It is very quite though.
