I've been reading that people's biggest complaint when going for high HP on the stock ECU and the SAFCII, is lack of timing control. I'm assuming there's not enough or too much timing. Why can't you just adjust the intake cam with a cam gear, and just play with the stock base timing? If you want more timing, just advance the cam, and if there is too much, retard it (*to a certain limit, you can't expect timing like you would get with a stand alone*)

Am I missing something here?

if it were just a crank angle sensor adjustment that would be fine. but your adjusting both timing for the ignition signal and valve opening. and is 1 degree at the pulley 1 degree at the crank sensor.
i think change 2 things at once is bad idea

Emanage blue will do it all which is why it's such a steal. for the price you get sell the safc2 and buy someones used setup and have money left over.

i know you couldn't dial it in with just cam gears, but couldn't you mess around with the timing a little bit?

the only way i could see it done is to physically move the crank angle sensors.
