Just wondering because I have oil in my intercooler Pipes (turbos I know) but I also get an air leak from my crank case breather which is disconnected from the intake and has an oilcatch and filter on it. I get the leak whenever I pressurize the intake. I already replaced the PCV! I did a compression test and all was right arounf 153psi so that was good. I have a 986sp with only 30kmiles.

Compression reads the highest momentary amount of pressure that the combustion chamber can achieve. Leakdown test keeps the combustion chamber pressurized and records the pressure drop, thus measuring the quality of the piston ring seal, together with the cylinder head valve seals. Thats the major difference, compression test is a quickie, leakdown is much more comprehensive and gives you more insight into whats up. The leakdown measurement tool is more expensive as well (when compared to the compression tester).
