Single Turbo Conversions in California

I've been told that single turbo conversions aren't legal in California. Is this true? I don't want to spend all my time researching for a turbo and spend all my money on a turbo if its not legal. Any help concerning this issue will be greatly appreciated.

There are no CARB legal single turbo kits for the MKIV.
