Whew, those things sound awesome! I just raced one from 40-115 & except where his instant torque got me in the begining, it was pretty much even. I might, repeat, might have been slowly gaining but it was hard to tell. Plus everytime I had to shift he would gain back any ground that I had gained. Has anybody had any experiance racing them? I have seen times ranging from 12.5 - 13.4

If it was the newer blown SL55's, than no way you were driving the IS300.

I have a hard time believing this (putting it nicely) if your only mods are: TRD carbon fiber hood, AEM, AFC, Ground Controls, 5 Zigen exhaust, 18" Volk GT-U's.

You must be making a mighty 240hp at the crank!

The older models of the SL-Class

SL500- 5.0L 302 hp V8
0-60- 5.93 1/4 Mile- 14.38 Trap Speed- 101.40

SL600- 6.0L 389 hp V12

New Supercharged SL
SL55- 5.4L 493 hp V8
0-60- 4.47 1/4 Mile- 12.71 Trap Speed- 116.80

Even with the older nonsupercharged models, the IS would have a little trouble keeping up with one. The 55's would tear it a new asshole

2002 IS300
0-60 7.10 1/4 Mile- 15.48 Trap Speed- 93.00

Sorry, I guess I should change my sig to include my supra. I have a 94 TT BPU. But the IS is for sale & I need to sell it BAD!
My brother was kicking himself for not bringing his DigiCam.

I agree there is NO way my IS could have beat him, but I did run a 14.8 with the mods shown. Not too bad, it would have been even better if I didn't have really bad wheel hop that wouldn't allow my 60' times to be better then 2.1 or so. I have seen a stock IS pull a 1.9 60' which would have put me in the 14.5 range.

Yes, in the Supra. The IS is limited to beating stock WRX's from a roll. :)

also, if these SL55 are exactly like the E55s, then they are factory underrated. A stock E55 has dynod 425 rwhp, factor in about a 20% drivertrain loss, thats about 510 crank hp, compared to MB's 469, same goes for the S55 too.

It is sad, but true... That even a properly running BPU car, which is rare these days, is going to get all it can handle from the AMG E55 and/or the AMG SL55.

What are the weight differences between the E55 & the SL55? I think that the SL weighs a bit more because of the conv hardtop. For sure over 4000lbs.
