My engine builder is telling me that my main journals on my cams are toast and i need a new pair. He says that i have 2 options
1. find a used set that he can polish up and use in the rebuild
2. get a good set and he can regrind them to a performance grind for about $485 (CAD remember) and this should increase my torque and power accross the power band.
He's opting that i get 2. because it's all apart and easier to do it now and will save timeand improve the engine etc.

On the other hand my boss who is very smart with engine building is telling me that it might be more hastle than it's worth because i may need a standalone engine management system if the stock system cannot handle the changes of cams (assuming i get them). I can get you some numbers for the grind if it makes a difference to anyone who knows what they are talking about.

I have an sp61gt and will have a turboback 3" once the motor is completed.

insight or help is appreciated.

nah the stock ecu can probably handle a mild cam upgrade. Of course try running a 274 cam and you are right it probably will not ;)
