Ha, I will probably miss a shift before him, I was impressed on how fast he shifted...it was like BAM, BAM, BAM...right there. I haven't seen nobody shift like that...and I am positive the shifter in those cars is not great. But he made it seem like it was a sequential tranny because of how good he shifted. If I try to shift like that in my Supra, I'l probably grind gears, hehe. Anyway, the purpose of this thread was to confirm my thoughts about the subject. There is a possibility of a race, but I have to think first. I am definately not gaining anything and as a matter of fact, if he wouldn't have mentioned that about spanking my car, I wouldn't have thought about it, hehe. Thanks for the replies guys...highly appreciated! =o)

I say go for it i think youll out pull him by a few ive toyed on the highway with a nicely modified srt-4 he was there for a little bit anyway

Hehe, I will let you guys know of the outcome. If I do race him, I am going to make sure my car is in 100% running condition and I will probably get a bottle so I can shoot a 40 shot in an emergency, hehe. I sold the car, though, so I am waiting on the money for it. Maybe I will give it its last spin before he goes! =o(

T4 60-1 turbo, stock turbo elbow, Alamo motorsports 3" downpipe, A'PEXi N1, Forged JE pistons, stock reconditioned rods, 2mm HKS headgasket, Fluidyne radiator, Maxx FMIC, HKS SSQ, Tial 40mm wastegate with open dump, HKS 550cc injectors, HKS VPC, HKS GCC, Aeromotive AFPR...some other things I cannot remember. :)
 
i have yet to be impressed by the srt4. they talk a good game, and have fallen on thier face at the track and on the highway when they pick a "fight" and get spanked. had a local talk all kinds of trash to me about smoking me and blah blah blah. we hit the track and his best was 13.5....... booooooooo!!!!!! needless to say he wasnt much of a challenge.
 
From a roll...no problem at all. From a stop you might even have a chance depending on his tires since he's bound to smoke 'em with that much fwhp. I somehow doubt it will even be close given enough distance, and since he seems so confident it should be easy to arrange for that. :)

I'm with steve, you're making almost 150% of his horsepower. Weight advantage or not...you should take him.

With that setup you have, just boost the 60-1 some more, you can take it over 500whp without trouble, especially if it's a full T4. I don't know how much power your rods can take, but I know the turbo can make more and the injectors can probably support more as well depending on tuning.

BTW - I wouldn't necessarily call an SRT 'geared for rollons' I've been in plenty of them from a roll tuning them and they do have nice evenly spaced gears but the gearing is nothing spectacular. Also the stock turbo falls on it's face in third gear - the nitrous will make up for that, but without, it's limited to about 300whp.
 
lol reminds me of the other day when i had race fuel in my car and a neon wanted a taste. It was from 3rd gear and i was not in the power band. First i wanted to see if he would bite and he did so he got the jump which i gave him but after that it was pretty ugly. Several bus lenghts. But i have way more power to the ground than you. You should win though but never underestimate a car.

gearing, areo dynamics and power is what you need to think about.

Thanks for claryfing, guys. I know it is just a Neon but I am open-minded, you know...I never look down at another car...I never underestimate anything. Hell, back home in P.R. if you see a raggedy looking hoopty and the owner wants to race you, just say no, haha, because you will get smoked. Anyway, my car dynoed 530 RWHP at 26 PSI...so I know the rods can handle the abuse. But I have no reason to up the boost. Like I said, I wasn't impressed by the pull of the car. Mine pulls VERY hard and will slam you against the seat when it gets to its sweet spot in the powerband. Analyzing what you guys said, I understand I can take him. We'll see...hopefully I can make this little match happen and videotape it. :crossfingers:
 
just race it on the track. It's smart not to street race and result getting into massive trouble. Don't be persuaded to do something stupid, enjoy the race...on the track :bigthumb: .
 
you should kill him. From a dig and roll, my turbo fwd car gets no traction, so i have to launch like a bitch. Your trap speed should also be alot higher so you should be able to walk on him even if you launch worse then he does. Good Luck

5sp is on N/A's only. N/A's are lighter than the turbos. Go weigh in at a truck stop. What turbo and intercooler do you have @20lbs of boost?
