SP-63 dyno

Last Thursday, we (SP crew and I) dynoed my SP-63 6-speed. We did quite a few runs, 12 pulls to be exact :) However, somehow the EVC couldnt hold the boost steady; the max boost attained on that day was 32 psi which dropped to 24 psi after ~4800 RPM.

The pull of the day was 492.5 hp (EVC turned off, boost @ 15 psi) which is the purple one in the chart.

I'm thinking of doing another dyno run after we fix the boost problem.

Sorry, can't do that. All the lines were printed on the same graph by the dyno guy.
:)
Hmmm, max hp at 4800 rpm??? Something was definately wrong. Damn boost controller!! Boost would spike, then fall a few more psi, then quickly fall for the rest of the pull.....

I liked how early the boost came on (3700), even with the .81 housing, and the 490 rwhp at 1 bar of boost was pretty nice. 600 ft lbs of torque aint too bad either. When we get a new boost controller in there we should see roughly 650 RWHP at about 28 psi.

Was this on or off nitrous? Any problems like this before with the EVC EZ? I am definately loving that curve till it starts to drop off.

We only did one run with nitrous (blue curve, can't recall how much boost the car was running that time), the rests were off nitrous.
I think we did the NOS run with boost turned all the way down. I believe it is jetted for a 75-100 hp shot. We have had some issues with electronic boost controllers before but never the EVC EZ. I talked to Ryan Woon about it the other day and they had similar problems. That is why he uses a manual boost controller now.

Those numbers look very promising...assuming you can get it to hold boost to redline. Can't wait to see what she does when running right! :)

I use the HKS EVC-EZ with my SP-63 and the boost holds rock steady right where I set it. You must have a defective unit.

I hope to get mine on the dyno next weekend, if the weather cooperates. I will send you the results.

Lar,
Do you think we could do another pull with new EVC sometime next week? I'll be in Evanston next week (spring break), so it'd be really great if we could do that and fix the bugs out of my car :)
I should have new EVC's late this week, if so then next week will work.

Just curious, does Sound Performance make the same line of turbos similar to Turbonetics? Like do you have something like T-66?
Can you list your mods Tin. Sorry im not familure with your car. To many Supras on here that are single now.

I use a Turbonetics manual boost controller as does most of the high hp cars here in AZ and we've had no problems with them. It would be nice to be able to adjust boost inside the car but really I only run two different boosts, (1.3bar on pump, 1.8bar on 118Race Gas). Saad has hardline run in his car with the manual and I will do the same one of these days.
It seems like the manual is superior to the electronic one in holding boost steady. However, I need one that can be adjusted in the car, at least can be turned on and off, since I'll be doing some road race this summer. It's not fun having the high boost kicks in during a turn :)

I have Greddy FMIC, SP63 turbo, fuel, and some other thing that SP make :)

I believe I'm the first SP63 6-spd!! :D

Great potential in that setup Tin. Sounds like it is gonna dyno VERY similarly to my PHR turbo. Hope you get your boost controller issues sorted out, post the results when you do!
By the way, I have the Greddy Profec B and it works perfectly...

LOL.... :D

The "third pedal" on a 6-spd is pretty much useless, one should not use it unless he/she want to spend $$$ on clutch. One could always give the shifter a little impulsive force and not use the clutch to engage the gear. The third pedal is just an optional feature to make the car looks cool.
G
Lar, What is the price of your T63? In stock?
Thanks.
