sp57/60SP Racing Turbo Kit vs PHR Stage 1 Single Turbo what setup to pick???

ok Phr stage 1 claims Power output is limited to 550 Rear Wheel HP
which allows the use of the stock fuel system with factory electronics if desired. with very fast boost response for street driven vehicles!

what is the power out put of the sp57/60 on stock fuel and with factory electronics if desired at what PSI.??????

so which of the 2 (PHR/SP)spools better and faster and who has more bang for the buck ???

i guess larry and jarret wont reply as they dont want to confront this! then again will they ???
whos turbo set up is a better bang for the buck PHR stage 1 or SP57/60 ????

I am wonderring this very topic myself. I am looking at both for future plans and I would like to know. ALSO the SP63 and STAGE2 (PHR) require fuel system. I know SP doesnt come with tis in the kit. Does PHR have fuel upgrade with there kit? Does anyone know how much a PHR system is compared to SoundPreformance's $2500 fuel system? Please reply!! PHR kits are more expensive but they also use braided steel hoses and such. However SP kits come with mid-pipe unlike PHR. Man dont know what to choose!
I asked the same thing. The main difference to some is the header. PHR PORTS an HKS header and SP uses one that they fabricated to match an HKS header. I was in the same situation until that realization and as a result I myself will be buying a turbo kit from PHR. Hope this helps!
well my friend has a ph stage 2 and the system is killer and i mean killer!
i belive he is using the sp fuel rail !and likes it had some install problems with the fuel rail at first but had it all sorted out !!

thing is i asked phr this question and they gave me a vage reply !..and i mean vage ! SP did not even reply !

so what s the deal !
i have been told the PHR kit has a better header !
I am chosing the PHR stage 1 kit for when I do mine. I love their kits and what they come with.

Ranger, as with you Ive emailed SP bunch of times over the past months and have not recieved a reply.

But PHR for me! Besides their from Texas :D

I'm gonna have to go with the SP kit. I dont know too much about the Powerhouse kit but I do know it comes with a cast manifold. That is why it is cheaper than the SP kit. If you ever want to upgrade once you have a fuel system you'd have to get EVERYTHING over again. You'd need new lines and IC piping cause the turbo will be in a different place. If I want to go with a bigger turbo all I have to do is loosen the Vband clamp and take off 4 bolts.....

As fas as spool goes I dont think there could be anything better than the SP57. MY CAR OUTSPOOLS STOCK TWIN CARS!!!! Once you get on the gas you have boost. I might not get a bigger turbo in the long run but just get bigger injectors and keep the SP57 and have it be ultra safe/fast spooling. I'd say 550rwhp will be very easy out of this turbo. I got 506rwhp on 93 octane last weekend on 1.4bar. I didnt even try with race gas. 550 would be very easy with a little more boost but I dont think I'm gonna push the stock fuel system like that. 500rwhp on pump gas is pretty damn good and trust me, its FAST.

Go with the SP57:D :D :D

Brad,

So what you are saying is someone can buy the SP57 kit. Later on they decide to go bigger so they get full fuel. Can they just buy an SP63/66/70 turbo and just replace the turbo but keep everything else that came with the SP57 kit?? Or do they have to buy the respectable kit??

Thanks,
Joel
Brad your wrong, their Stage 1 Single turbo kit is the same as their Stage 2 single turbo kit just a smaller turbo. Once you get bored of the stage 1, you can upgrade to stage 2 turbo with fuel.

The kit your talking about it completly different kit that is brand new.

They have 2 kits for stock fuel. One really cheap what your talking about is called the Street Single and one that is $5150+ or close to that.

turbowash: Cool, thanks for the correction.

alaskan_assasin: Yes, all you have to do it swap turbos.
No problem Brad, a lot of people make that assumption. Just giving the facts.

BTW keep up posted on the SP57 tuning.

Casey
Wait...I assumed that if you bought a PHR Stage 1 kit you can easily upgrade to stage 2 or stage 3 without having to buy their entire kits all over again. It would be a terrible waste of hard earned cash if that wasn't so. Can anyone shed some more light on this? I do know that if you buy an SP57, and you decide to opt for more power, all you have to do is change the turbo ONLY! The same should be with any PHR kit...right?
First, our fuel kits are 2300, not 2500 and come with all braided line, all wires, all connectors, all relays, etc, EVERYTHING you will need!! the largest fuel rail AVAILABLE and it has a center return!!

OK, on to turbo kits......

Our turbo kit's header is a copy of the HKS pretty much. Same size runners, same stainless steel.... etc. I chose to copy it because then I save money, then you save money and I can give you more in the kit for less $$$$. Get it??

Our kit comes with the HKS GT wastegate..... THE BEST!!

Our kit has the new HKS Racing BOV II..... The best!! Does the PHR kit come with a bov??

Our kit comes with a down pipe, and mid pipe, everything you need to connect to the exhaust of your choice. All exhaust pipes, header and turbo are CERAMIC COATED!! I even integrate the wastegate output back into the exhaust. More work but it doesnt sound like ass everytime the WG opens!!!

Our turbo comes polished / ceramic coated and of course ported on the inside. Turbo size of your choice. No secrets as to what you are getting. 1 yr warranty on ALL turbos.

Kit includes 3" IC pipe and 4" intake pipe, POWDER COATED.

Includes 4" large K&N Air Filter.

Includes K&N filter for breather and Idle control valve.

Includes braided SS lines for oil return and supply.

Includes all nuts, bolts, washers etc to install complete kit.

If you ever want to upgrade to a bigger turbo, just trade in your old turbo towards any other SP turbo. The rest of the kit is the same!! It is the best kit part for part available and the most complete.

I in no way want to say anything bad about the PHR kit as I am sure it is a great kit.

Oh, there are pics of our kit on the website now.....

BTW:

Our kits are priced:

SP57 & 60 - $5400
SP63 - $5500
Anything bigger with a q trim exhaust wheel is $5800

What is the PHR pricing??

Estimates on a stock cam motor:

SP57 MAX RWHP >> 575
SP69 MAX RWHP >> 600

All you will need with any single is a VPC. All other stock electronics will be fine. You can run a stock MAF, but both I and Jarrett do not recommend it. Any single car runs much better with a VPC.

Lar, the stage 1 comes with everything except a BOV I think. All polished too. HKS GT wastegate, K&N etc. It uses a HKS header. Price is $5175.

VETKILLER, You can upgrade to a bigger turbo once you want to do fuel with a PHR stage 1 kit.

here what their kit looks like.

But I am pretty sure that ceramic coating is like a $850 upgrade? at least that is what the website says?
I guess, im not quite sure.

Lar, doesnt that ceramic coating(the shiney) stuff flake off over time. Im talking like 20k+ miles?? Several people told me it does and they say the black stuff it the best.

Im still debating on your sp60 kit or PHR Stage 1 when the time comes. Ive always been impressed and loved that kit since I first saw videos and dyno results from it. I just havent seen any for PHRs yet.

I will be on a tight budget so if PHR doesnt come with coating then yours will save me money. Still a touch choice though! Glad I have a while to think about it.

How much would a SP60 kit run with no coating and only the turbo polished?

turbowash: Go with the 57 if you are on stock fuel, no reason for any more lag than that.
