Do I need to remove the transmission to remove the speed sensor? Is there enough room between the v160 transmission and the tunnel to remove it. I'd go out and jack the car up but it is pouring rain right now.

That's only if you want to remove the whole assembly. Normally the teeth should be fine. You will only have to remove the electronic part of the vss.

To remove that it's held on by 3 Philips screws. If it's bad, that's the part that needs replacing. If you remove the whole assembly by removing the 2 bolts, fluid will come spilling out all over your face.

Just remove via the 3 screws and spray some carb cleaner up in that shit.

I keep getting the VSS trouble code almost every 2-3 times I drive it. I reset the battery & it goes away. Will the carb cleaner trick help in this situation?
