Probably a belt. Check your belt tensions and see if anything's loose.

my twin disc does that......it grabs so damn hard that it makes a squeaking sound....do you have an aftermarket clutch?
yeah, i have an aftermarket clutch (ACT 3), it has been making that noise off and on since i installed it... a few people told me it probably is, guess i have to break it in more :)

thanks

NJSupra-did you ever find the cause of the problem/noise? My 94 Supra has just started making a noise like this. Mine seems to be comming from the cam gears or slightly below. It is there between say 1800-3000RPM and sounds to me like something is out of balance as it only resonates at certain RPM. This happened about 200 miles after I installed an ATI harmonic damper, removed the A/C and went back to the stock water pump driven fan. I'm hoping it is the drive pulley tensioner but haven't tested it yet.

Did you ever get to the bottom of what was causing your problems?
