1jz/7m Starter motor problems - Solved

Starter motor was clicking for a few (up to a hundred starts) , then stopped clicking alltogether. . . So I changed the starter motor assuming it was the solenoid. . . However, it was the wire leading to the starter - It couldnt hold enough current to activate the starter. . . Easy way to test and diagnose this before you go to the hassle of changing the starter, is to disconnect the trigger wire from the starter (small black plug with 4mm black wire) and insert a length of standard auto wire into the slot on the starter where the plug was, then simply touch the other end to the positive side of the battery with the ignition switched to on . . . If it starts, this wire is the problem. . . Other people run relays etc, however I found it a better solution to just re-run a new wire from the ecu (black wire with white stripe) and connect it to the old trigger wire plug. . . This is intended as a quick check prior to replacing the starter. . .
