^^ ditto, Never had a supra with a functional one. Waste of weight, and I cannot see any reason for it to be there, as long as the power steering is working.
On a 4x4, I could see a reason, but on a sports car, I can only see it reducing steering input and sensitivity.

Replacing the rack and power steering pump. Found it to be shot, just wanted to make sure I wouldn't do any long term damage to the new units.

Bumping this post. I was going to replace mine as well, the thought being it will make the steering more solid. I did have an 85 Toyota 4x4 which had essentially the same thing stock, and after I lifted that truck I put dual Rancho's on it to keep the steering solid and guard against bounce back.

Since my 87 doesn't have the later speed sensing rack, should I still use/replace it?
