hey guys im thinking of selling my K&N max air box and filter and putting back on the stock airbox. my question is does the k&n max airbox really add power or do people just get it for the different sounds that it makes. if I put my stock airbox back on will this decrease performance or stay the same.

Get a K&N or TRD element for the stock airbox and you'll be OK...but it will probably be about a ~5hp loss at WOT. During the time I had the stock twins I always used the stock airbox with a TRD element with no regrets, dyno'd 435rwhp/455rwtq which is pretty decent. If you think you notice it in your trap speed, to get back that last extra bit of power for a drag race you can always remove the box cover. Otherwise it's barely detectable.
