Guys my 99 Z-28 which has only "305hp" went 13.1 @110mph completely stock. Have any of the 320hp Supras gone that fast stock? Joe... (p.s. think GM underates these LS1's?)

I am not going to get into this argument again but I raced several stock LS1 cars at the track and have never seen one run the quick. I am sure it is possible that it can be done but I have never seen it. Most Z28's that I see run at the track are running mid to high 13's at around 103-105mph. I raced a friend of mine who has a 99 Camaro Z28 automatic with my Supra when it was stock and I beat him. It was close all the way to about 80mph and then I started to pull on him. If you went 110mph completely stock then you got a freak car with a lot more than normal horsepower or the drag strip was downhill. A stock Supra will run the quarter in the low to mid 13 second range at around 105-107mph.

If your track is at sea level then those drivers suck.
No flames, just that since I know a lot of f-body guys I have seen good times :)

Ken, I ran my car at Cecil County Maryland. It is a fast track and that day the weather was perfect, 50 degrees, 35% humidty, pressure 30.55. I think my car may be a "ringer" but who doesn't want that? I agree most LS1's go 105-107 mph stock but my car isn't the fastest. Guys have gone as fast as 12.88 @110+ stock. Joe.....
G
Most stock Supra Turbos will run somewhere in the 13's at 102-107MPH, give or take. To hit 110+ will almost always require additional boost (easy).

Are you sure your quote 110+MPH trap speeds are *bone* stock? No little "free" mods like playing with the intake? From what I've seen, that's very common on LS1's and will yield quite a fair amount of power, and most people that do it still run around calling their car "stock."

Either way, it's tight - 110+MPH is definitely impressive in stock or lightly modified form - the LS1 is definitely a nice engine, and the POS suspension/chassis in those cars sure makes for some great launches down the 1/4... :D Sometimes I wish I had a setup like that so I could get deeper into the 11's, oh well.

I have a friend with a black 99 SS with the SLP option from the factory. He ran [email protected] at Cecil in March of this year, and his car is bone stock. The barometer was high, the temp. was about 40 deg. and the track is close to sea level. Many people were getting there best times that night including myself.
G
Pete, my car at the time was 100% bone stock. Stock crappy goodyears, stock paper air filter,no intake mods or exhaust mods. I was running Amoco 93 and my sixty foots were 2.1 for those times..Even I didn't think the car would go 110mph stock. I ran 110mph 3 times that day with my worst being 108mph. Joe...

The track I am talking about is Raceway Park in Englishtown,NJ. They had a Chevy day there and I saw tons of LT1 and LS1 cars run that day. The only LS1 cars running really high 12's and low 13's were the C5's with the Camaros about 1/2 second behind. Most of the Camaros were running mid to high 13's at around 103-105mph. I didnt see any Camaros running anywhere near 110mph bone stock. I am not saying that you didnt but it is definitely not the norm here in the northeast. I have also seen several LS1 cars run at Lebanon Valley Dragway in upstate NY and none have run that number as well. If you did run that number that congratulations. That is an excellent time for any bone stock car.
The one thing I can add is that Cecil does seem to give 1-2 mph higher trap speeds than other dragstrips, but that doesn't take away from the 12.90 E.T. I wish it wasn't true but I saw it with my own eyes.
G
Ken, I have raced at English Town NJ before with my other cars and it sucks!!!. After the last time I was there I said I would never race there again...They make you drive through the water and they don't prepare the track as well as Cecil...
G
my buddy has a bone stock Red 99 SS ran [email protected], I'd lined up with him few times and the best I could do on mine was [email protected], we both cut 1.9x 60' on crappy stock RSA tires :D for those who said impossible for the LS1 to run low 13s or high 12s, think again, give me any bone stock LS1 and I'll run those times for ya, it's all on driver :D :D BTW, we ran at MIR ;)

That is an excellent time you ran as well. Im not calling you guys liars at all its just that I have never seen those times myself at the track. I have raced 3 LS1 powered Fbody and beaten all 3 of them with my Supra. When I had just the downpipe and exhaust on my car with no boost controller I ran 12.98 at 112mph with a 2.06 60' time. I raced my friends 2001 Z28 that is an automatic and I beat him by about 5 cars to 120mph. I also raced another guy I know with a 99 Z28 6 speed and it was pretty close to about 80mph and then I pulled on him also. Thats the only reason I had trouble believing the LS1 camaros are running high 12's because when I was running that also they couldnt keep up with me. If you guys ran those times more power to you. That is excellent for a stock Z28.
G
Ken, I wouldn't doubt you beat those LS1 at all, because I've seen countless of them ran 13.6 to 13.9 on the same day, same track. my colleague has a bone stock 98 Z28, couldn't break into 13.50 no matter what, also witness a Z06 ran 20.x last friday at Capitol Raceway...yes you got that right, 20!!! didn't even bother to watch the rest of his run afterward, it's a brand new Red Z06 drove by a 40+ old man, shame on him. what a waste!!

Hey man, I'm in Fairfax too. Do you ever head down to the strip in Manassas? If you do, can you place this car...

No, the SS is my buddy’s car that I’m always in when I’m in Manassas…so if those rolling eyes are suggesting that I’m bullshitting about my car you can cram them up your ass. If not, I apologize in advance.

I think running 110 traps for a LS1 stock is definitely the exception! I know they happen, but on average I see mid 13s at 104-108. Autos usually run quicker and the M6s run faster. Well, just like anything else I guess.
G
I was just wondering why someone would own a GT and a SS?......
my car 13.6 @ 103 stock.

I think you got one of the fast camaros. I two have never seen a Z or SS in the 13's that was stock. Even a zo6 ran high 13's here. Im not speaking for eveyone or eveytrack but Gm's dont do well here and we will not even talk about the fords.
G
wow a post i can relate to for once..

well my 1998 z28 bone stock (no free mods) ran a 2.0 60ft and 13.6 @ 101 ... a slight miss of 3rd as well.. thats the best time i ever got out of it.. guess because i launched it good.. (i had a 6speed).

anyways.. im torn between a transam and a supra.. :(
