Hi!

I changed all my rear parts this winter, since some really weird noises appeared last summer from the rear end... I changed the upper control arm, lower, tie ++... I have done a 4 wheel alignment control and everything is aligned correctly...

But In curves in lower speed with just a little throttle it feels like the whole rear end is twisting so bad that it feels just like it`s going to fall off... But in higher speed 50 mph + I can feel nothing... Only in parking lot driving etc... When the car is rolling with no throttle the sound can not be heared!

I got a GS400 pumpkin and TRD differential on my N/A. Stock N/A axles....

I believe it`s not supposed to be like this... sounds like the car is falling apart and it really annoy me!!

Any inputs is welcomed!

Tough to say without being there and looking at it in person, but does it ever feel like you are running over a rock? Describe the sound more?

On the track we will jokingly say "you're just driving too slow around that turn." This is normal when LSD's need more slip. When turning the outside wheel needs to rotate much faster than the inside wheel. If they are locked the outside wheel will literally hop or skip... this becomes less noticable as speed increases.

What kind of gear oil did you use? If you ARE using a limited slip gear oil already, you likely need to add "more slip" to the oil. Redline sells a 4 oz bottle of LSD Friction Modifier... I would add 1 ounce, then drive it and see if the noise goes away. It shouldn't need all 4 oz if you have LSD oil in there already. You just have to add till it suits your taste... just don't over do it. If you have standard gear oil... you can still add Friction Modifier but you'll need more than 1 bottle. I would change to a LSD gear oil and again you may still need to add a little Friction Modifer.

Ford also sells a friction modifier, but like i suggested change out the fluid since its cheap enough and you had the prob since last summer.

The fluid is brand new together with the TRD diff... Only a few miles with it.... In the beginning I couldn`t here a thing but after some spinning one evening I drove home and then i noticed the noises... Is there any chance I need to change my N/A axles to TT ? Are they longer and will that change my problem? Is there anything wrong inside the differential? It`s in a GS400 pumpkin, not in a TT auto as mentioned before...

Do the easy stuff first. Add some friction modifier in there or change the fluid out and put new fluid in. Check the fluid level it could be low. Simple steps first.

Your 1993 NA axles are identical to the TT auto and May 96 & later JDM TT 6-spd cars. On the earlier year and export spec TT 6-spd cars, they had the exact same right side axle and a slightly shorter left side axle, but made of the same material/etc.

Only the later year NA's went to unique axles, and they were dimensionally identical with thinner shafts.

So being that you have a '93, your NA axles are just fine and are exactly the same axles that were fitted to countless twin turbo cars.

Choritsu-Shi hit the nail on the head - I think you need some friction modifier for your TRD LSD.
